The American Civil Liberties Union released a statement this week coming down squarely in favor of the “civil rights” that boys-pretending-to-be-girls have to compete in female sports. Citing the trials and tribulations of two Connecticut transgender runners who have dominated their female competitors, the ACLU informed us that it is “discrimination” to bar biological males from girls’ sports.
“Transgender people have the right to participate in sports consistent with who they are, just like anyone. Denying this right is pure discrimination,” the ACLU opined. “The marginalization of trans student-athletes is rooted in the same kind of gender discrimination and stereotyping that has held back cisgender women athletes. Transgender girls are often told that they are not girls (and conversely transgender boys are told they are not really boys) based on inaccurate stereotypes about biology, athleticism, and gender.”
Ah, biology is now just a “stereotype.” The fact that boys are biologically stronger, faster, and more athletic than girls (on average) is just a bigoted thing that people say to marginalize transgender athletes. And of course it is merely coincidence that male-to-female transgender people dominate the rest of the field in running, weightlifting, wrestling, and just about any other sport they choose to compete in.
How can people be this blind to reality?
“When misinformation about biology and gender is used to bar transgender girls from sports it amounts to the same form of sex discrimination that has long been prohibited under Title IX, a law that protects all students – including trans people – on the basis of sex,” they wrote. “Girls who are transgender are girls. Period.”
Ah, but just because you say it’s true doesn’t mean it’s true.
Indeed, a new study published in the Journal of Medical Ethics shows that there are differences between those who “identify” as girls and those who actually are girls…and those differences go beyond the levels of testosterone in their respective bodies. Meaning that even when sporting organizations attempt to level the playing field by demanding that “female” athletes not exceed a certain blood percentage of testosterone, the biological males still retain an enormous advantage.
This is also consistent with the take of USA Powerlifting, which has said that “men naturally have a larger bone structure, higher bone density, stronger connective tissue and higher muscle density than women. These traits, even with reduced levels of testosterone, do not go away. While MTF (male-to-female) may be weaker and less muscled than they once were, the biological benefits given them at birth still remain over than that of a female.”
Try as the left and the ACLU might, they will never replace scientific fact with LGBT feel-goodery. Period.
