There are times when Democrats do exactly what you expect them to do. They stand for tax-and-spend policies, they vote for same, and you can’t really be too surprised when they do. That’s pretty much part of the game.
Then there are those times when the extreme liberals get within spitting distance of political office. Such seems to be the case in Iowa, where U.S. House of Representatives candidate Staci Appel stood up for her own beliefs at a televised debate. What are Miss Appel’s beliefs?
On the prospect of revoking the passport of any American who joined ISIS, Appel said:
“I would not be urging taking away their passports. I think we need to make sure that we work through the system and look through it on a very diligent basis.”
This is a woman who currently enjoys a 1.6% polling advantage over her Republican opponent, David Young. That’s not to say she’s a lock for the open seat, but she’s still in the lead. Why don’t we see the media tarring and feathering Appel the way they did Palin? Sure, a little Iowa Representative race doesn’t have the visibility of the Presidential race, but is that really all that separates them?
Of course not. Because the problem here isn’t Appel (well, she’s part of the problem) but with the elitist, INSANO-LEFTISTS who have hijacked the Democrat Party. These people no longer have any relationship with the American public. Sure, they soft sell it in a way that gets them into office (or they try, at least). But once there, they are thirsty for policy that is much further to the left than the vast majority of Democrat voters would like.
Reports vary when it comes to how many Americans have joined our enemies in the Middle East. U.S. officials will only confirm that it’s a relatively small number, most likely fewer than 12. Still, that doesn’t count the Americans who have joined other rebel groups in Syria, some of which are affiliates of al Qaeda. When you get into the total numbers, it could be north of 100. Regardless of the actual number, it defies belief that a politician who eventually hopes to defend and protect the country would not be willing to draw a line in the sand.
That it will be under-reported by the mainstream media is par for the course. The news cycle comes to a grinding halt when an old Republican says something sexist, but there’s barely a blip on the radar when a Democrat basically admits on television that they don’t understand the first thing about American security. If more attention was brought to comments like Appel’s, many left-wing voters in this country would find themselves searching for an alternative.
Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
