Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) has been largely handicapped since Democrats won the majority in the House, thus putting the degenerate Adam Schiff in charge of the House Intelligence Committee, but that’s not stopping him from doing everything in his power to push back against the deep state and its bureaucratic vendetta against President Donald Trump. In an interview with Fox News’s Gregg Jarrett this weekend, Nunes said that Republicans on the committee are gearing up to expand their probe into Robert Mueller’s dirty dealings during the Russia probe.
“We’ve expanded our investigation into the Mueller team and everything that happened with Mueller and the people at DOJ and FBI that were above Mueller,” Nunes said Sunday. “And so, we will be making criminal referrals in the coming weeks against the Mueller team. We’re just now putting that together and, of course, as always, waiting on more documents that we really need to come out.”
After a two-year, $30 million investigation, Special Counsel Robert Mueller ultimately turned in a final report that was a scalding embarrassment to the Democrats hoping that he would be the man to take Trump down. The report concluded that there was no evidence to suggest that the Trump campaign had colluded with Russia to defraud the 2016 election, putting the ugly nail in the coffin of the 21st century’s most destructive conspiracy theory.
However, even as Mueller cleared Trump of any wrongdoing in that regard, he refused to do the same when it came to obstruction of justice, giving Democrats just enough wiggle room to save face.
Regardless of Mueller’s report and its exoneration of the president, many critics feel that he should have wrapped up his investigation much, much earlier. Nunes told Jarrett that Mueller had all of the information he needed in May 2017 to conclude that there was no criminal conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.
“We’re doing a large criminal referral on the Mueller dossier team that put together a fraudulent report — that knew there was no collusion the day that Mueller walked in the door,” said Nunes. “They set an obstruction of justice trap. There’s no doubt in my mind that we will make a conspiracy referral there.”
At this point in the game, we know better than to get our hopes up when we hear talk of “criminal referrals” and “investigations” into corrupt Democrats. We’re not even holding our breath when it comes to Attorney General William Barr and U.S. Attorney John Durham. We’re sure they will uncover some interesting tidbits about the coup to dethrone a president…but will it actually come to anything? Or will we once again watch crooked leaders and their corrupt agents get away scot free?
It’s depressing, but then again, it’s Washington. It pays to keep your expectations low.
