It’s been a rough year for the Obama administration and others in the Washington bubble. Every time we turn on the news, we have to hear another example of gross federal incompetence. When even the most liberal of news outlets have turned on Obama, you know things are beyond the pale.
Right now, the news is all about last week’s security breach at the White House. This seemed like a big deal at the time, but the investigation has turned up even more bizarre findings. Like the fact that the Secret Service allowed Obama to get on an elevator with an armed security contractor with a gun. The incompetency reports got so bad, so quickly that Director Julia Pierson was forced to resign in disgrace.
That’s far from the end of it, though. Consider Obama’s bold proclamation that we wouldn’t be putting ground troops in action against ISIS. Almost immediately, his top military generals were telling Congress that they would request ground troops if things didn’t go as planned. Well, if reports are anything to go by, things haven’t gone as planned. The airstrikes have proven ineffective. Now most of the country is convinced that we are sending in the troops.
In a related story, President Obama told Steve Kroft last Sunday that our intelligence officials were surprised by the rapid growth of ISIS. Not only did he come off as someone eagerly passing the buck, but news stories surfaced within hours that clearly demonstrated our commander-in-chief had all the information he needed to make that prediction well in advance.
So that brings us back to the original question: just how incompetent is Obama’s administration anyway?
It’s not just of academic importance. Right now, we may be facing two of the greatest threats in recent history. Ebola has just made its way to American soil and ISIS may not be far behind. While it’s easy to get sensationalist about these things, we can’t deny that these twin entities – each of them deadly viruses of their own kind – need a responsible, competent response. If that fails to materialize, we will be in for a very scary 2015.
Over and over again, we’ve watched this president and his administration make awful mistakes. No president is perfect, but this one seems paralyzed by his own ineffectiveness. If the job he held was like any other, he would have been fired or demoted a long time ago. As it stands, we have to put up with his nonsense for another two years. Unfortunately, a lot can happen in two years. If the last six are any indication, none of what happens will be great for America.
We have a chance to turn things around, if only slightly, in November. With a conservative Congress, Obama will find it harder to promote his backwards, socialist policies that have done nothing but harm America. We have a bigger chance to turn things around in 2016. Hopefully, there will be something left to turn around by the time we get there.
