Showing that he is nowhere near getting control of the chaos unfolding in downtown Minneapolis, the Democrat mayor of that city released a statement this week encouraging the rioters to remember that there’s a coronavirus out there. Loot from Target if you will. Burn down our local businesses if you must. Throw bricks and bottles at the police if it will make you feel better. But please, for the love of all that is holy, don’t forget to maintain six feet of distance between yourself and your fellow rioters!
“We need to offer radical love and compassion that we all have in us,” said Mayor Jacob Frey. “I believe in this city and I know that you do to.”
In a press release, the mayor’s office gave this helpful advice to the rioters: “The City encourages everyone to exercise caution to stay safe while participating in demonstrations, including wearing masks and physical distancing as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The City has made hundreds of masks available to protesters this week.”
Terrific. Good to know that Frey and Minneapolis city officials have their priorities straight. Now you understand why President Trump had no choice but to send in the National Guard. If we leave the control of these riots up to the local Democrats, there won’t BE a Minneapolis left by the end of all this.
On Friday, Mayor Frey said that rioters were justified in their anger.
“What we’ve seen over the last two days, and the emotion-ridden conflict over last night, is the result of so much built-up anger and sadness, anger and sadness that has been ingrained in our black community not just because of five minutes of horror but 400 years,” Frey said. “If you’re feeling that sadness and that anger, it’s not only understandable – it’s right.”
Frey finally managed to say something sensible on Saturday, telling reporters that the city would no longer stand for the chaos.
“This is no longer about protesting,” he said. “This is about violence, and we need to make sure that it stops.”
Well, at least this guy has a thimbleful of common—
But then he wrote this on Twitter: “We are now confronting white supremacists, members of organized crime, out of state instigators, and possibly even foreign actors to destroy and destabilize our city and our region.”
He’s a full-blown idiot.
