Okay, we’re convinced beyond a reasonable doubt. At some point in the last ten years, MSNBC host Joy Reid was abducted by aliens and her body was returned to Earth with an imposter living within its confines. This is why the blogger that Reid was years ago, when she was blasting George W. Bush for letting too many illegals into the country and mocking everyone who believed in such liberal darlings as gay marriage, bears so little resemblance to the progressive nut that hosts AM Joy on the weekends. It’s why she’s so convinced that someone else wrote all those things; someone else actually did!
And it would also explain why she’s the only person in the known universe who thinks that the media preferred Bush and Sarah Palin to Barack Obama.
Actually, we’re not even sure alien abduction explains this one.
Whatever the explanation, though, that’s what Reid argued in a segment on Sunday. She actually said that it was not very surprising that Republican voters would flock to Donald Trump despite his limited oratorical skills. She said it followed a pattern that went back at least as far as W. and certainly included the rise of Sarah Palin. In fact, she said, “even the media” usually found themselves enthralled with these less-than-skillful speakers.
“There is a thing in Republican party politics where not being erudite as a speaker is seen as a virtue,” she said. “It was with George W. Bush, the idea that he’s plain-spoken. And so, when he would mangle the language — even the media would read that as authentic and great, right? He would make up words, and people would say, ‘Great, that’s great. It’s his lexicon.’ And Sarah Palin, the same sort of thing where even the media was enchanted with the way she spoke.”
Reid went on to tell us that “you would see people disparage President Obama as being almost too erudite and too articulate.”
Oh, where to begin.
First of all, literally no one in the liberal media found Bush’s speech “authentic and great.” No one in the media was “enchanted” by Palin. In case this actually is the same Joy Reid that was around back then, she may want to think a little bit harder about how the media actually portrayed these Republicans…because it was in no way positive. They were utterly lampooned as idiots – much the same way they treat Trump today. In fact, we’re pretty sure the ol’ Nazi tag was thrown around a time or two as well…
We can only assume that in ten or fifteen years, we’ll be hearing all about how the media adored Donald Trump, even going so far as to engage in a playful, back-and-forth “war” with him for fun and profit.
Maybe by then, the real Joy Reid will have returned from her outer space excursion to set the record straight.
