Repeating one of those myths that only endure because virtually every reporter in the mainstream media will defend him, former President Barack Obama celebrated President’s Day this year by “reminding” Americans that he, not Trump, is responsible for the unprecedented economic boom we’ve been experiencing for the last few years.
“Eleven years ago today, near the bottom of the worst recession in generations, I signed the Recovery Act, paving the way for more than a decade of economic growth and the longest streak of job creation in American history,” Obama tweeted on Monday.
In other words: Don’t listen to anything this administration tells you: I SAVED THE ECONOMY, you foolish rubes! Muahahaha!
We can’t really remember the last time a president, nearly four years out of office, tried to keep taking credit for the economy, but there you have it. Obama’s ego is a thing to behold.
Not everyone was buying it, however.
“President Trump reversed every single failed Obama-era economic policy, and with it, reversed the floundering Obama/Biden economy,” wrote Trump campaign spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany. “Obama and Biden orchestrated the worst economic recovery in modern history.
“By contrast, though, deregulating, lowering taxes, and supporting free-market policies, President Trump has created the hottest economy on record, with unemployment hitting generational lows and all-time lows for African Americans, Hispanics, the disabled, veterans and many other hard-working Americans,” she continued.
“Paychecks are growing at the fastest pace in a decade and twice as fast for low- and middle-income Americans,” she wrote. “It’s no wonder Democrats seek to take credit for the Trump economy after eight years of betraying blue-collar workers and inflicting pain upon the middle class as Americans everywhere suffered. But the failed days of Democrat stagnation are over, and the soaring Trump economy is here to stay.”
Indeed. Obama’s regulations KEPT this country from recovering. He essentially put the economy in handcuffs and told Americans: Sorry, but our best days are behind us.
THAT’S what Making America Great Again is all about. It’s not about whatever racist return-to-the-days-of-slavery the left tries to make it out to be. It’s about restoring American jobs, cutting the globalist policies, and unlocking the American dream that has been kept in a buried trunk for far too long.
We’re not surprised that Obama would try to claim credit for something his successor did; we’re just surprised that anyone would believe it.
