California Democrats, ever eager to prove that they are the wokest liberals in the land, announced this week that there would be no more of that pesky, discriminatory gendered language in State Senate committee hearings. In an announcement that surely inspired a few eyerolls even in progressive California, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairwoman Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) said that hearings would now demand the use of only “gender neutral” pronouns.
“Our first order of business is to approve the committee rules. I’d like to note — in respecting the fact that we are now a state recognizing the non-binary designation as a gender — ‘he and she,’ we are now merging them so we are using what my grammar teacher would have had a heart attack over: we are using the phrase ‘they’ and replacing other designations so it’s a gender neutral designation: ‘they,’” announced Jackson. “Basically, that’s the primary reforms and revisions to the committee rules.”
Just wow. You can even sense that Jackson herself is a little embarrassed by this show of fealty to the LGBT mafia. Like, really? We have perfectly good singular pronouns that we’re going to throw out the window because of the sliver of a chance that the man we’re talking to might define himself as a woman? Or as some kind of third gender unknown to science or the animal kingdom? Give us a break.
“The world is a different place,” she said. “My grammar teacher is long gone and we won’t be hearing from her. From them! From they!”
She doesn’t even know how to do it, because this defies every known logical rule of English construction (to say nothing of science, culture, religion, and old fashioned common sense).
This is so silly that it almost defies commentary. We still have this (naïve, incorrect) feeling inside that there will come a day when America will simply snap out of its reverie and reject all of this nonsense from the top down. But we know that day isn’t coming. In our heart of hearts, we know that we’re just going to see more and more of this idiocy. America is a great place with great people, but we have a weakness. Call it “oversized compassion.” Compassion and tolerance are admirable qualities, but the left takes advantage of these things to push their progressive agenda past the point of no return. And again and again, they have proven successful.
Only a matter of time before the AP Stylebook officially recommends doing away with gendered pronouns in favor of “they.”
We had a good run, America.
