It’s interesting to see Hillary Clinton out there encouraging voters to elect the first female president of the United States. She’s not just asking Americans to help her make history, though that’s a part of it. She’s also subtly hinting that she would address gender concerns in a way that no man would be able to do.
But if President Obama’s legacy is anything to go by, this is a suggestion women should take with a grain of salt.
According to a new poll from Gallup, African Americans say they are worse off today than they were during the president’s first term. This is the first black man elected to the White House, and his record of accomplishment in the black community is pathetic. He was not elected to be the president of black America, of course, but he couldn’t have carved out anything for this struggling community?
According to the poll, only 53 percent of black Americans consider their lives to be “thriving” in 2015. That’s down 4 percent from the last time the poll was conducted in 2012.
Gallup suggests that black well being has dropped due to the events in Ferguson and Baltimore over the last year. If that’s true, this poll is even more disturbing. We need to rid ourselves of this idea that our happiness comes from the media. What difference does it make to your life that a kid was shot outside St. Louis? This is what happens when you give up your individuality. You can never achieve happiness if you depend on outside forces to get there.
But blacks aren’t just saying that they’re doing more poorly under Obama. The numbers bear this out. The black poverty rate has gone up 2 percent under this president. Minority household income has dropped 9 percent under Obama’s economic regulations. And you know how Democrats love to talk about inequality? Well, Obama’s rule has only widened the racial wealth gap.
Obama should be ashamed of himself. Hidden inside “hope and change” was a promise to the black Americans who helped put him in the White House. A promise that he failed to keep.
At the same time, blacks should be happy that he didn’t take a special interest in them, because everything Obama touches turns to crap. Like all Americans, blacks are better off when they are given opportunities and not handouts. Obama couldn’t give them those opportunities because to do so would have meant launching a conservative campaign for economic growth. That’s not the liberal way. The more a Democrat meddles in the economy, the worse things get.
Now Hillary Clinton is out there promising that she will do for women what Obama did for African Americans. And if any woman examines that promise, they might decide their vote would be better off going somewhere else.
