Public School Idiocy – Student Arrested For Killing Fictional Dinosaur

Since that fateful April day in 1999 when a couple of psychos unleashed hell on Columbine High School, public school ralph lauren sweatersofficials across the country have abandoned common sense when it comes to watching out for the next big threat. This has led to a frightening array of ridiculous stories where innocent kids are scolded, suspended, and even arrested for offenses that not even the dumbest liberal would consider noteworthy.

The  comes out of Summerville High School in South Carolina. Tuesday morning, a 16-year-old named Alex Stone was arrested by Summerville police when he wrote a fictional story about killing a dinosaur with a gun. Stone crossed the line when completing an assignment that required a short story and a “status” appropriate for Facebook. Ignoring for a moment the question of whether students really need school-sponsored Facebook practice, the absurdity here is that Stone’s “status” was considered dangerous enough to warrant a call to the police.

“I killed my neighbor’s pet dinosaur, and, then, in the next status canada goose sale I said I bought the gun to take care of the business,” Stone told reporters. For his humorous tale, the teenager was arrested, charged with disorderly conduct, and suspended from school.

The story thus goes into the history books alongside some of the 21st century’s most ludicrous over-reactions to the spooky specter of guns and violence. There it will join stories like the one about the 6-year-old who was suspended for bringing to school a  about the size of a quarter and the little girl innobis jackets Philadelphia who was scolded for having a  that (vaguely) resembled the shape of a handgun.

These idiotic stories encapsulate the government perfectly, ignoring the real problems in favor of addressing the ones that don’t exist. Whenever one of your liberal friends starts mumbling about the need for more public education money, bring up the sad tale of Alex Stone and his fictional dinosaur murder. Would this have happened in a private school, unrestricted by federal indoctrination and liberal gobbledygook? Perhaps – no school is perfect, after all – but at least we could rest assured that our tax dollars weren’t flowing into a corrupt and unfixable institution.

The broader problem is that we’ve seemingly lost all common sense in this country. We can no longer evaluate an incident on a case-by-case basis, and we put people in charge who are utterly incapable of making decisions in the moment. Here, it appears that no one at Summerville High School or the police department had the sense to say, “Well, you know, canada goose jacket sale it’s a stupid story about killing a pet dinosaur. Maybe we shouldn’t arrest him.” One can only hope that charges are dismissed when the town’s residents react with intelligent outrage.

But one’s not holding one’s breath.

Don’t forget the pop-tart gun – maybe we should ban food from skools

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/11/pop-tart-gun-bill_n_2852472.html

    • organic girl

Actually, the lard-highfructosecornsyrup-chemical-laden pop tarts should be banned from the food chain.

Or at least kids should be taught how to eat one without nibbling away at one corner to evoke the image of a gun. Including eating instructions on the wrappers would be the responsibility of the manufacturer, so we probably need a law for them to comply with.

      • Steve Thomas

I agree but I will never support having Mooochelle make the rules.

      • laboop

We don’t need any more laws!!! Especially one that has eating instructions on it!

        • organic girl

          Please learn to recognize sarcasm.

@wfc – Foods need to have RFIDs so that the end-user can be tracked.

“public school officials across the country have abandoned common sense”

So when have the Liberals in control ever shown any semblance of common sense? Shalom!

    • mike slaney

You are right, dumped “Common Sense,” and took up, “Common Core.” What a great country, (sarcasm intended)

  • Liberty

Yes, but! Did the student make it clear that the dinosaur was extinct? How was the teacher, educated in our public school system, to know that the dinosaur was fictional? Never assume a dinosaur is extinct. I call “foul!”

    • Jim97365 .

Remember the response Spielburg got when the picture of him sitting in front of the mechanical dinosaur was posted? He caught all kind of flack for shooting that poor, helpless animal.

  • dskancer19

my – GOSH!! Did anyone tell the friggin up-de-ups that guns weren’t even around when dinos walked the earth – – as in the kid WAS using his imagination AS required by the assignment… I think we need to clear the school systems out as they all seem to be suffering from dementia.

    • ESQ

Holy Cow! But pardon my French! I’m wondering what would happen if he killed a real dinosaur with a real Gun?

      • Greg

You would be praised as a hero.

      • babby660

That would surely be an oxymoron, — or, perhaps, an accident of time travel? The timelines for dinosaurs, humans & humans with guns would have a hard time crossing otherwise.

      • Homer

        In today`s warped times,

Those peta folks would place a bounty on your head, offer cash for any possible unclothed photos of you and picket your home, job etc…

In the real world where those crazy folks were not around everyone would have called you a hero!

      • omegaman

        Don’t talk stupidly

    • supergun

Are you talking about the Brain Washing Institutes that ruin our children?

  • OldmanRick

Since when have jackasses ever had a modicum of common sense? History shows that they are incapable of such thought. BTW, this is just another example of cultural Marxism aka PC running amuck.

  • babby660

Lots of folks are suffering from dementia these days. I, personally think that “open carry” movement so beloved in some of the southern states is ridiculous. They’re over-reacting the other way!!! Personally, I would not go into a school, library, church or store where folks packed their six-shooters — I figure people with that big a chip on their shoulders are not to be trusted.

    • joe haire

you figure wrong. Go drink some more Bloomberg Koolaid!!

      • babby660

it’s comments like yours that make me figure gun-toters could have “hair-trigger” tempers!

        • usausapatriot

Ah, yes, you are stupid or a troll.

    • Frank Andrews

babby, I think it’s time to wake up now. It’s only a dream! I send my kids to school every day with
loaded weapons to keep dreamers like u from being hurt by those pet DINOS!

    • normsd

It’s called “prevention”, fool! Join the NRA and get yourself educated, and quit drinking the liberal Koolaid!

    • usausapatriot

Then stay in your government “protected” home.

    • http://socialsity.com/ LastGasp

Americans have openly carried their firearms since before we became a sovereign country. I figure people like you have their head so far inserted into their nether orifice they would arrest kids for writing a story about shooting a dinosaur. People like you are the problem with this country, whiney, mealy-mouth cowards.

    • Jim97365 .

babby660, It is interesting that you think that “open carry” is a Southern phenomenon which you seem to consider a mental aberration. Actually, only six (6) states do not have some form of legal open carry. Since you show such a fear of “six shooters”, does that mean you are more at ease with the weapons of other magazine capacity?
I do agree that people with a big chip on their shoulders are not to be trusted, that is why I am always armed (legally so by the way).
Apparently you are interested in going only to “gun free” zones. Those are the places where I am most cautious. By being “gun free” they are ” target rich”. The major killing events in this country, Canada, England, Australia, and Mexico all occurred in “gun free” areas. After all, these killers are not stupid, all criminals prefer unarmed victims. If it is not readily apparent to you as to why, then you should stay unarmed. Just hope that when things go bad, that there is someone else around to protect you.

      • babby660

Well, since I’m 74 years old & have never been involved in a shootout, I don’t really worry too much about folks with guns, Jim. This is not to say I don’t know people who hunt — they just don’t hunt other people.

And, as a matter of fact, I learned to shoot a rifle as a child. I just have little interest in the gun-totin’ type of life.

        • Jim97365 .

You have less than a decade on me so we have shared much time on this earth. Your indicate that your experience with firearms has been extremely limited. That has been your choice. Hopefully, you have never been in a situation where you have been subjected to violence or had any friends or family so treated. I hope this remains so. Unfortunately, your age alone makes you an easy target.

With the assault on the Constitution that has been going on, people are standing up for their rights. From the vermin in the White House, our Constitution has suffered a tremendous beating. The second amendment is what makes all the rest possible. Just because you prefer not to exercise your constitutional rights, please stay out of the way of those who are legally doing so.

Just out of curiosity, are you one of the “gun grabbers” of our younger days?
By the way, you might just meet someone soon who does hunt people. The elderly are very susceptible to such things as home invasion, strong arm robbery, and all sorts who like to prey on the weak and defenseless. I hope this does not apply to you, and that maybe you have a “six-shooter” hidden away somewhere.

  • gordon

I blame this MORONIC STUPIDITY on the community where this is taking place. If the parents and people living would get together and march on that IDIOTIC school they could drive just a little bit of SENSE into the MONKEYS we call TEACHERS heads. It is their call, SET AND WHINE or get off your A$$ and do something about. My grandson has several t-shirts with Bible verses on them and I told him to NEVER be made to turn them wrong side out because someone doesn’t like it. It will NEVER HAPPEN, he is to call me if it does and SHAME ON THEM !! Enough of this BULL $57T.

    • dahniuru

It’s reached the stage that only this kind of response for the community will bring about more common sense type behavior by the educators.

      • gordon

You are so right, but it is up to the community to put a stop to such IDIOCY and say enough is enough, we will not put up with another minute of your nonsense and let them know where you stand. Take them with a law suite if necessary, you also have rights-USE THEM. NOT ANOTHER MINUTE!!

        • ESQ

People take your kids out of public school!

    • usausapatriot

It’s not sense. It’s PROPAGANDA! Delusional, unthinking BRAINWASHING!

      • gordon

All of the above is correct and the teacher has NO ATHORITY for the limits put on the children, so get off your DUFFS and do something about it. PERIOD!!

      • jim_wright

This is exactly the brainwashing Holder was talking about. Brainwash our kids against the second amendment.

        • omegaman

That was Hitler’s concept. Repeat, repeat, repeat. If you do it often enough it will become a truth.

    • Cynic

Public schools are no longer “community schools.” Instead, they’re government propaganda centers. This all began in the 1960s when neighborhood schools that children could walk to were closed and replaced by mega-schools so remote that all students, not just the ones who lived in the country, had to be bused.

Progressives are responsible for breaking an education system that at one time counted on parental support and was actually teaching students to think. That was why I left my college-level education courses in disgust around 1970 and vowed never to teach in public school at the grade-school or high-school level.

      • gordon

I understand exactly what you are saying and it is such a shame our country has hit the bottom of the GUTTER. I just saw where California passed a bill to teach and sing the praises for obbuummer in the class rooms. I don’t know how much more we can get in the GUTTER, but they have a pick & shovel and are even digging a little deeper. We as citizens MUST STAND UP against such IDIOCY. IT IS TIME TO SAY ” NO MORE” and get the GARBAGE out of the schools lunch programs that obuummers side kick is trying to shove down our kids throats. At my grandchildrens school OVER HALF of the food ends up in the trash because the children will NOT EAT THE SLOP, then goes hungry the rest of the day. Our school has even banned peanut butter & jelly sandwiches that some kids brings for their lunch. We still pack them if that is what they ask for and they are to go to the office and call me if anything is said to them. I plan on taking a stand until HELL FREEZES OVER!! PERIOD!! It is time for ALL with a BACKBONE to stand up for their rights, they CAN NOT tell our children what they can and can’t eat.

        • tinkerunique

“Common Core” is a government one-size-fits-all indoctrination program AND the dumbing-down of our children. Examples = “adultery” discussed at 4th grade + sex “how-to” in high school = goes with free abortions in 0’bummer-care. Several states have “repealed” Common Core in that state because of that. Students in Texas, do not need to learn the same things as students in Chicago.

    • David Egg Philbeck

      Kudos to you

  • ffajaz681

And they are teaching our kids? Need to send back to school, must be union so don’t have to know how to teach or have a brain. Time for the parents to sue the school and all people involved in this, including the police. Need to have this arrest off this child’s record as will hurt him in the future. Sure this comes with the Dems wanting to go the way of England getting rid of guns so they can take over our world and become the Socialist country the Dems want. And with a record now the child will not be able to buy a gun in the future.

A Country Founded by Geniuses but Run by Idiots!

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but

not for entering and remaining in the country illegally — you might

live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or

to take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion — you might

live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you MUST show your identification to board an airplane, cash a

check, buy liquor, or check out a library book and rent a video, but not

to vote for who runs the government — you might live in a nation that

was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If the government wants to prevent stable, law-abiding citizens from

owning gun magazines that hold more than ten rounds, but gives twenty

F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt — you might live in a

nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If, in the nation’s largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but

not one 24-ounce soda, because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make

you fat — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is

    run by idiots.

If an 80-year-old woman or a three-year-old girl who is confined to a

wheelchair can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman

in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head

searched — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but

    is run by idiots.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions

of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more — you might live in a

nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If a seven-year-old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his

teacher is “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class

in grade school is perfectly acceptable — you might live in a nation

that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more

government regulation and intrusion, while not working is rewarded with

Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits, subsidized housing, and free

cell phones — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses

    but is run by idiots.

If the government’s plan for getting people back to work is to

provide incentives for not working, by granting 99 weeks of unemployment

checks, without any requirement to prove that gainful employment was

diligently sought, but couldn’t be found — you might live in a nation

that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest

big-screen TV, while your neighbor buys iPhones, time shares, a

wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new cars, and the government

forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage — you might live in a

nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself

makes you more “safe” according to the government — you might live in a

nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If the media panders to your openly socialist leader while the IRS targets groups with dissenting views— you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If your government ‘cracks down’ on legal gun sales to law abiding citizens while secretly supplying illegal guns to Mexican drug cartels— you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If your local government (Chicago) outlawed gun ownership for ‘the safety of its citizens’ and now boasts the worst murder rate in the country — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

    What a country!

How about we give God a reason to continue blessing America?

This was borrowed from another blog, please spread it far and wide!

    • I AM THE BEAST Sssotlohiefmjn

I am sick of the leaders.

    • Krazeehors

I love it!!! I have one to add:

If you served your country in the military and decide to rejoin the civilian workforce but can only collect THIRTEEN WEEKS of unemployment compensation BECAUSE you were in the military and have to verify your job search — while everyone else is collecting 99 weeks of Unemployment without verifying any job search — you just might live in a country that is founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If your country’s attorney general can open a criminal investigation of the videotaped and broadcast beheading of a journalist by known terrorists but refuses to prosecute black on white crime and voter intimidation, you might live in a country that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you re-elect a POTUS who broke the law numerous times in his first term but refuse to vote Republican just because they ARE Republicans, you might live in a country that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If your party breaks out into open political warfare against candidates from the same party who are “too conservative,” you just might live in a country that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

The only thing I can really say about these idiot dems comes right from the big screen. STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!

    • gordon

      You can’t fix STUPIDITY !!

  • luvzforplay

This kids parents should get an attorney and sue all the educators involved into poverty , perhaps that would shock some sence into them , they are really getting out of hand with this bull !! The worst thing you could get reading the kids story would be a paper cut ..

    • TPM

Maybe the kid could shoot some of the older (dinosaurs) school board members.
They couldn’t try him for shooting a dinosaur AGAIN, due to our legal system’s double jeopardy rules 😉 (sarc)

  • phil112

The school did the right thing. Clearly any kid that would take a gun and kill a neighbors pet dinosaur is a threat to society.

    • Mikeyoung6

      Dinosaurs are an endangered species!

      • phil112

That’s right, Mike! The cops need to be talking to this neighbor also. Pretty sure it is against the law to make pets out of endangered species!

      • eddyjames

        Now, so are Dinosaur Hunters.

  • Cathy L Clark

So will they actually take this to court? If they can’t find the body how can he be convicted? Who can come up with a fictional dead dinasaur? Some people have taken leave of all common sense.

    • omegaman

      No corpse, no evidence.

  • Chasalz

The entire education system is overloaded with educated fools. 99% of them do not have any common sense. They are all a product of our left-wing liberal college system that has corrupted clear thinking.

    • Mikeyoung6

My wife was a secretary in an elementary school and we used to attend an annual picnic for the faculty. As a group they were the most childish adults I have ever met.

    • Krazeehors

And the ones who HAVE common sense have all been fired.

    • Cynic

Exactly! That was why I abandoned the education program at my state college. Our system of education had been working well and effectively…until the progressives and the social “scientists” (what an oxymoron!) broke it.

    • tinkerunique

Common Core is a government indoctrination program. Much of “American History” has been re-written, and sex-ed has been inserted. It could qualify as a racist/Muslim teaching tool.

  • helen sabin

Time for a law suit and I think the kid will win!! what law enforcement officer would arrest based on a DINOSAUR????? The cop as well as the school are the idiots here.

    • Krazeehors

The cop has to do his job and follow orders, so I cannot fault him.

      • dahniuru

He’s only following orders! I know. This is exactly what those in charge of the Nazi Death Camps said during their various trials. Very Scary.

        • Krazeehors

I completely understand your comment, and my brother is a retired cop. I am also a veteran.

Regarding the Nazi Death Camps – – have you ever REALLY studied their history? Yes, the people in charge of those camps WERE probably “following orders,” but not quite. They were ENTHUSIASTIC PSYCHOPATHIC MURDERERS!!! I have studied this EXTENSIVELY, believe me.

Why? Because Ovomit is ALMOST following Hitler’s political philosophy CHAPTER and VERSE.

          I study WWII.

And, I have OFTEN spoken out on various blogs of the need to PAY ATTENTION to our history, especially that of Hitler, Marx, Mao, Kim Jong Il, and others like him. There is a fantastic (i.e., true historical account) series on Hitler entitled “Nazis: Evolution of Evil” showing on The American Heroes Channel, the Military Channel, and the History Channel right now. I urge EVERYONE to watch it, especially given that California just voted in a law REQUIRING INDOCTRINATION of our youngest school children!! There is NO doubt that Brown will sign it.

Our politicians are going down this path because they KNOW they can get away with it.

I don’t know what the police officer’s motivation was, I was just pointing out that he also works for someone.

Unfortunately our stupid administration hasn’t learned its lesson. BHO is the most absolute worst president ever. He is lazy, self absorbed and a worthless human.

          • helen sabin

Americans are asleep at the switch and need to learn life’s lesson the hard way to wake them up!

          • helen sabin

His words were, ISIS are STEELY COLD KILLERS…..tough words huh? NOW…NOW… he is getting the word? This administration is totally incompetent. Wait until some of these homegrown terrorists commit chaos and mayhem in the cities – lock and load!!

          • Cynic

Wow! Why did it take the hideous video-taped beheading of an American to wake him up? Why are our so-called “leaders” asleep at the wheel?

I lived through the mortification of Carter’s failed attempt to rescue the hostages in 1979. I had hoped I’d never live to see the day when another American administration would publicly admit the same. But at least with Carter I was sure of his motives, his sincerity, and his engagement. With Obama, not sure at all. He is the most disengaged president of my lifetime. He is acting as if it is 2017, and he is already the ex-president.

          • helen sabin

BHO is a narcissist that’s why. He will soon be the ex president and he can take his adopted daughters with him along with Micheael…oops Michelle and go live in NY – they deserve him! Hawaii is bout his speed – they are so corrupt and their people so poorly educated that he would fit right in.

          • beegeegirl

go online and google obama’s millions dollar home in Hawaii ! YOU will be shocked when you see it !!!!!!!!!! so, no, they won’t be retiring in new york … they will live in their citizen-paid-for home worth SEVEN MILLION …. still wonder where the billions that went missing went to ?????

          • Jim97365 .

As I have said since his first election, do not look for the great BO to willingly or peacefully surrender power. He has kept all his promises about crippling this nation, so how can we ignore his promise of establishing a personal force equal in strength and weaponry to our military, but not subject to posse comitatus? After all, all those armaments that are unaccounted for have to be going somewhere.

      • helen sabin

The cop has to show SOME judgement and he does NOT have to arrest a child that made up a fictional story. What he could do is go counsel the kid and his parent to never threaten taking a gun to a school no matter if it was fictional or not. Then he should have a private talk with the principal and tell him that he is a jerk.

        • Krazeehors

Oh, please. Taking a fictitious gun to school? You are completely missing the point.

I said the cop was just following orders because he probably was. I wasn’t there, and I don’t know. I am quite sure he thought what he was doing was stupid.

Of course, this kid should not have been arrested, and I stated that in an earlier post.

The point to this whole story is that the class was TOLD to USE THEIR IMAGINATIONS and use this as a Facebook exercise. Facebook is the one who called the police. The school went along with it.

The POINT to my comment was to point out that we have a POTUS who has spent 6 years PURGING our military of its best leaders, and firing those who will refuse to fire on American Citizens. We also have an Army who is NOW teaching its recruits that the ONLY “militia” in the country IS the US Army.

Ovomit is marching almost in Lockstep with Hitler, and if you don’t learn your history it will happen again.

          • helen sabin

AMEN and your point is well taken!! Glad you see the light.

          • Krazeehors

Oh, I saw the light a LOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGG time ago, believe me.

Don’t forget the young boy who “pointed his finger” like shooting a gun! Total idiots are in control, no longer kept in suitable institutions, but THEY ARE IN CONTROL!! From the top leaders of government to company CEO’s and upper management!

  • Bird

By the way, my 13 year old grandson wrote his first novel and received a young writer’s award for it. The story is about four teenagers fighting fire-dragons and slaying them with swords; in order to save the planet and mankind. (Thank God he didn’t use guns in his story) I’m just letting everyone know, once Obama has your guns, he’s then coming for your swords!! Whatever you do, don’t get them registered! ; >)

Proof that our education system is run by idiots educated beyond their intelligence, and that PC has run amok in the nation.
The US Dept. of Education and state depts of education should be abolished, and control left to counties and the local level. As a side benefit, this would free up billions of tax dollars to be put to better use, like eliminating poverty. Let the “brilliant” Socialist elitists now running the show find a job in the private sector, if any company will have them!

So, this kid will have a police record hanging around his head like an albatross for the rest of his life because of a fictitious story about a species of reptiles that no longer exist?

As my father used to say, Good Grief, Gertrude!!!

This is beyond asinine, and I hope this kid’s parents raise hell with the court system.

But with the head terrorist of our Court System being out only for the perks of the office, I doubt they will get anywhere until they have exhausted their savings and everything they own in legal fees and lawsuits.

Until the PARENTS start fighting back with lawsuits and until COMMUNITIES start fighting back with class action lawsuits against the teacher’s unions and facebook, nothing will change.

    • Jim97365 .

Oh, there will be changes for sure! Did the great BO not promise unlimited CHANGE? The only problem is that no one asked WHAT was to be changed and changed to what. Unfortunately, the changes will continue to be for the destruction of all we hold dear.

      • Krazeehors

Oh, believe me, I know. At 60 years old, mom of a soldier and grandmother of three, I have seen more changes under this loser of a president that I ever thought possible.

  • redfish494

This kind of stuff is getting out of hand, I read that a school news paper (Bullet) must be changed. It was guns that won the war with England, it was guns that won World War I, II, and all the wars we have been in. Just because you don’t say the word gun, doesn’t make it so. You can’t even say bless you, or God bless you, when you sneeze. Come on folks we are being silly with all this.

  • Peachy

Yes, this could have happened in a private school, and would probably even be more likely in a corporate charter, a considerable number of which are staffed by poorly educated, unprepared and unexperienced teacher wannabes and “led” by “administrators” with no academic background whatsoever. Not to deny economic collusion between current top school officials and greedy corporations hawking unnecessary and even harmful “programs”, curricula, “standards,” and especially high-stakes tests, I see no connection in this case between the idiocy of an individual school administrator and the corruption. Currently fashionable virtual elimination of fiction and the stressing of non-narrative writing being pushed on teachers and students could also be a possible route to this literal interpretation of the imagination of a child. There are enough real dangers from real guns awaiting our children; we don’t need to dredge up new ones.

I do have a question about a detail that may play a role in our interpretation of the admin’s silly response: The child in the story as related here states, “…to take care of the business,” whereas in the other versions I have seen, he says, “…to take care of business.” One meaningless little word can make a big difference in the meaning of a sentence. The latter implies an intent to do further harm and could be interpreted as an intention for real follow-up, whereas the former refers only to the dinosaur’s assassination. This should be cleared up because it could possibly indicate a problem on the part of the child, the harming of pets being a documented precursor to the harming of other people or oneself, and humor can be a mask for a troubled psyche. We don’t know anything else about this student, but a child who dwells on the killing of pets might indeed need help, and this should be looked into by parents, teacher and/or counselor. Certainly not the police, who seem to be becoming an integral part of the schools, making the ever increasing transition to prison seem like a natural progression. And arresting a student for his writing is just one more example.

Finally, there seems to be something missing in the reporting of this story because the police are quoted as saying that it involved the boy’s conduct and had nothing to do with his writing about the dinosaur. The arrest was for disorderly conduct. Perhaps this whole thing is just a result of a reporter’s attempt to get their story circulated. Arrest for”disorderly conduct” for writing, although not, sadly, out of the question these days, makes this a very strange story indeed.

  • J. Fred

Hey dinosaurs are on the endangered species list if I am not mistaken so it is not even funny that this kid is threatening to kill one even if it is just a fictional story. • moral antagonist

Facebook is the one that started it and they should be banned from being used in any school activity. As for the police officer if the school demands he arrest this child ,he has no choice. The police officer does have the right to arrest them at the school for making a false complaint, but only after he has arrested the perp.Bottom they should all be in jail and let the lawsuits begin.Sue facebook as well.

  • M61A1

I hope his parents get a great lawyer, they should contact the ACLU, here lately they have been helping out in such cases.
First off the police need to drop all charges, clear his record, the school board needs to fire the teacher of such a insane act. These type of people are the main reason people are scared of guns. My god if they ever raid my house I could hear them cowering behind cars yelling come out with you hands raised.
But I don’t break the law, I collect, hunt, shoot for competition. These radicals want everyone to be scared, but I grew up with guns, my dad taught me all I needed to know about guns, teach each guns as if were loaded, never point a gun at something I don’t intent to shoot. In high school everyday there was a gun in my truck! Oh the horror a gun in a truck on school grounds.
There were 5 of us, we always had guns in the old rifle rack. Those days they saw it as a normal thing, now days they can’t even say the evil word “GUN” sad we have a amendment to the Constitution that gives us the right to keep and bear arms. Why do peoplelet those in power screw with them!

  • Sam

See HOW MUCH our government doesn’t want US citizens to think about guns, have guns or even fantasize about having guns. But then they will put a rifle in our arms to kill citizens that do NOT agree with the government.

Common sense in the USA has become so rare, it’s a superpower. One of my (college) students told me about what happened to a classmate of his in high school. This poor guy wore a “Billabong” T-shirt to school, and was suspended because the principal — THE PRINCIPAL — thought it advocated pot use. You know…”Build a bong.” Idiot.
And just TRY using a certain perfectly good word of Scandinavian extraction meaning “cheap” or “miserly” if there are certain people present…

  • Laddyboy

Reading the story for the first time. If the Student was arrested for “shooting a dinosaur in a classroom writing assignment, then this leads to the conclusion that the school’s library has eliminated ALL reading materials which contain any mention of a weapon. I thought this was ILLEGAL in America.

    • Jim97365 .

    • Jim97365 .

This is where parental monitoring of what is being taught their children is of vital importantance. Parents must get involved in their children`s education. Lack of parental involvement is how we got into our present predicament.

  • Dana Davis

Can a 16 year old in that state buy a gun? Is such even possible? But allowing one’s imagination to go forth in such a manner is considered “disorderly conduct”? I’d file a civil suit.

    • Jim97365 .

Dana Davis, do not worry about age restrictions in this instance. After all, this is about an imaginary weapon, in an imaginary world, with imaginary prey, being condemned by people with imaginary intellects who have such a poor definition of reality that they cannot comprehend the difference between real and imaginary. Unfortunately, they have gained enough power when no one was looking, to harm others with their insanity.

  • iitywybad

Hmmm it gets sillier and sillier in the public school sector. i would work a dozen jobs to put my children in a Christian school if i still had young children. i wouldn’t let them so much as set foot in a public school to watch a ballgame! We still have the right to “keep and bear arms” in this country – regardless of what schoolios think! A child has the right to cut paper into a gun shape, or bite his cheese slice into a gun shape, or point his fingers like a gun without having the police called. My goodness! Who let those lunies out of their padded cells? It’s time for thinking Americans to stand up and demand an end to this over-the-top idiocy that plagues our schools and our nation as a whole. It must be a concerted, whole-group action to demand an end to the stupidity.

If the MORONS in his community accept this BS then they deserve what they get. If the parents want this stopped they can force the issue at their level both against the teachers and administrators and the school board. , along with other like minded parents had to take a hard nosed approach to the schools where my kids were over several issues and we sopped them. You have to get involved and do not abdicate responsibility for your kids to these PC leftist teachers.

“Once upon a time”, nearly 20 years ago, the country was normal, happier, more resonsible, and willing to let minor irritations slip by without comment or concern. Then came the dingbats, also fondly referred to as democrats by the mentally challenged and illiterate population. Once they had forced their way to leading the federal government they established their own sick rules; political correctness, which defines anything we had approved of or loved in the past, as immoral or criminal. Then they began to seduce their mindless followers into believing that to be really human, one has to search diligently for the teeniest, most minute infraction of their rules. Then they can scream, hold demonstrations, pillage and plunder the innocent, lie on the ground kicking and screaming, and they can whine their insidious whines through a media, long since emasculated b

Funny, when I was in public high school in CALIFORNIA in the early 60’s we had a .22 rifle shooting team and NRA sponsored hunting and gun safety classes on campus. We would bring our guns and our ammo to school, keep them in our lockers until our practice and gun classes, then shoot at the targets on the range. No one got hurt, no one got killed, we all learned the proper way to operate a very common tool in society! We even had shooting events with other public schools! And our local police department would allow us to come to their police range and shoot on the weekends without our parents! We had archery classes as well and shot arrows on campus. And, as a Boy Scout, we all carried our pocket knives everywhere we went, including to school each and every day! What has happened to this once great country?
