According to a new survey from Rasmussen Reports, most voters understand that the media is all the way in the tank for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. While it’s puzzling to think that there might be people out there who DON’T believe this to be true, we suppose you can’t underestimate the stupidity/ignorance of the American public. We’re sure there are plenty of Democrats out there who think that covering Trump in any way that doesn’t involve looking into the television and screaming “FASCIST! FASCIST!” over and over again is a betrayal of democracy. They, um…they’re getting pretty loony over there on the left, in case you hadn’t noticed.
Anyway, 50% of likely U.S. voters say that “most reporters will try to help Biden” win the election this November. Only five percent think the media is hoping to get Trump re-elected. We have to assume those are deeply confused individuals who probably still think you can catch COVID-19 from drinking Corona. Meanwhile, 35% of voters believe that the media will be “unbiased” in their coverage of the election.
Following the high-profile resignation of a New York Times opinion page editor, most voters are eager to find fair and balanced media coverage but think the majority of news organizations these days are politically biased.
Among voters who think most reporters try to help the candidate they want to win, 79% think most will try to help Biden. Just three percent (3%) say most reporters will try to help Trump.
While 75% of Republicans expect most reporters to try to help Biden, only 29% of Democrats agree. But just six percent (6%) of Democratic voters think most reporters will try to help Trump.
Among unaffiliated voters, 47% say most reporters will try to help Biden in the upcoming campaign versus three percent (3%) who think Trump will have the advantage. Forty percent (40%) predict that the coverage will be mostly unbiased.
In nearly all demographic categories, the number of voters who think most reporters will slant their coverage in Trump’s favor is in single digits.
Please, media pundits: Tell us more about how liberal bias is a myth.
There was once a day when we believed that the more outlandishly biased the media became, the less effective their blatant propaganda would become. Sadly, this doesn’t seem to be happening. Left-leaning viewers and readers just eat it up. They know what they’re getting, and they keep coming back for more. It’s depressing to realize that people will line up to eat a neverending meal of deception as long as that deception speaks to their preconceived ideology.
Truth? Facts? What does any of that matter when you are in a war for “social justice”?
As Trump said of the coronavirus, we can only assume that this is going to get worse before it gets better. If, indeed, it ever does.
