According to a new report from The Daily Caller, President Trump has a new plan to remove illegal immigrants from the United States. In a shrewd move, Trump is planning to use the 1807 Insurrection Act, which empowers the president to use federal forces – the National Guard and the military – to fight back against “unlawful obstruction or rebellion” within the boundaries of the United States.
That might sound like the kind of law that would only come in handy in the case of a Confederate uprising or an attempted coup, but it’s actually a bit more expansive than that. As the DC points out, it was last used by President George Bush in 1992 to clamp down on the Los Angeles riots. And Trump believes he can use it to combat illegal immigration.
From the Daily Caller:
“We’re doing the Insurrection Act,” one official said.
An official expressed concerns that Trump’s use of the act’s powers would face legal challenges, pointing to the lawsuits against the president’s travel ban from majority-Muslim countries. However, as the official noted, the travel ban ultimately prevailed in the Supreme Court.
In addition to the Insurrection Act, the president is also considering declaring the country full and insisting that the U.S. can no longer handle the massive influx of illegal immigrants. 2019 is currently on pace to reach the highest levels of illegal immigration in a decade.
“If you take a ship and it holds 1,000 people maximum — one more person and the ship is going to collapse,” the official explained. “The country is full.”
“Our hospitals are full, our detention centers are full,” they added.
The unnamed official is right, of course; Democrats and immigration groups will challenge this as soon as the president rolls it out. Good. Every time this happens, it creates a stark choice in the minds of the voters. Do you want a president who will enforce the laws of the United States on behalf of the citizenry, or do you want a president who will throw open the doors of the country to every speed-freak, gang rapist, welfare-leeching immigrant who has enough willpower to get to the border? To put it another way: What kind of country do you want to live in?
We’re well past the days of “both sides are the same,” and choices like this make the schism so wide that even your lowest-information idiot can tell the difference. We follow the path of the Democrats, and our country will be a multicultural hellhole where no one speaks the same language and our shared American values will be a thing of the past. We follow the path of Trump, and we can preserve this great nation and pass it on to our kids. Our OWN kids.
Let Trump run on that message and see if it doesn’t earn him four more years.
