(TotalConservative.com) – A bar in Idaho went viral online after making an official announcement that it would be spending June celebrating “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month,” inspiring backlash from the so-called “LGBTQ community” and Democratic voters.
On Wednesday, May 29, the Old State Saloon in Eagle, Idaho, posted an announcement on their Facebook page that they would celebrate June as “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month” and give away free beer and other discounts to heterosexual men and women. The announcement invites patrons to join the saloon “all month to celebrate heterosexuals” because no one would be here “without them.”
The announcement declared Mondays in June at the business would be “Hetero Male Monday” and that they would give out a free beer to “any heterosexual male” dressed as such. The bar also declared Wednesday as “heterosexual couples day” and offered a 15% discount on the entire bill for pairings of men and women.
The promotional campaign is meant to be a conservative American response to the celebration of Pride Month every year, which comes with parades, merchandise, events, and TV specials for four weeks straight as businesses across the nation change their logos to rainbows and transgender colors.
The bar received backlash for the stunt, which they noted themselves. In another post, the saloon said that many of those opposed to the idea were having “a hard time commenting” without cursing, insults, or “using the name of the Lord in vain.” They warned commenters who disagree to keep it civil or they would be banned, noting that they had to ban “about 25 already.”
Although some may have thought it a joke, the bar reiterated their plans to go through with their plans, and even announced an additional “Her Hetero Happy Hour” for the ladies and a t-shirt celebrating “hetero awesomeness.” The owner of the bar, Mark Fitzpatrick, told Fox News that it was a “dream” of his to “build a community event center” that could promote “conservative ideals.”
The Idaho Statesman wrote a hit piece about Fitzpatrick and the bar in response to the news, to which Fitzpatrick responded cooly.
