In another demonstration of how far California has fallen down the liberal rabbit hole, a Democratic assemblyman has proposed a bill that would ban state employees from using government funds to travel to states that have religious freedom laws on the books. Evan Low proposed the bill as a way to protect LGBT employees from discrimination.

“No one wants to send employees into an environment where they would be uncomfortable,” Low said in an interview with the Sacramento Bee.

LGBT group Equality California is sponsoring the bill, and Low said he expects that other gay activism groups will rally around the legislation. The bill, he said, is intended to send a message to states that have laws that promote discrimination against gays, lesbians, and transgenders. It is part of a broader series of LGBT-themed bills, including one that would withhold financial aid from public colleges that have religious freedom exemptions.

Low has not yet determined which states would become off-limits to employee travel. “That’s a question we still need to address,” he said.

Currently, 21 states have some form of religious freedom laws in effect. LGBT activists say these laws allow anti-gay business owners to discriminate against people on the basis of their sexuality.

Conservatives are split to some degree when it comes to the LGBT cause. That’s especially true when it comes to millennials, who have grown up in a culture inundated with every form of pro-gay propaganda the media can promote. Some of them see so-called “anti-gay” crusades as being at odds with the foundation of conservatism. Isn’t conservatism more about letting people live the lives they want to live without government interference?

The only answer to that question is yes, but you have to keep in mind that we’re not getting the whole story. Liberal bias in the media is a foregone conclusion, but it’s extraordinarily obvious in the case of the LGBT movement. We’re talking about a group of Americans who represent – at most – less than 2% of the adult population. But this tiny minority is over-represented in our movies, TV shows, and newscasts. Meanwhile, Christian cultures outside California, New York City, and other metro areas are practically ignored by the liberal elites. They’re seen as hateful, backwards, and hopelessly ignorant. And this is pretty much the only viewpoint acceptable to print and television media.

As a result of this bias, Americans who have never been within 100 miles of Hollywood are watching as gays are being given special rights and privileges that have no connection to common sense. Never mind that you can’t find this crap in the Bible or the Constitution; these laws (gay marriage, anti-discrimination for sexual orientation, bathroom access for transgenders) are completely at odds with the beliefs and values of millions of Americans. And, as we’ve seen in Oregon, Washington, Texas, New York State, Indiana, and elsewhere, Christians are being punished for merely standing up for their religious liberties.

Thanks to liberal media dominance, it’s now considered “hateful” to say something as plainly obvious as “there are only two genders.” It’s now considered a crime to refuse to bake a cake for a gay wedding. It’s now perfectly acceptable to throw a Christian in jail for standing on her principles.

Until we can broaden the window of “acceptable” views and speech on television and in other forms of mainstream media, homosexual activists are going to keep trampling our freedoms under the guise of social justice.
