Last week, former Clinton White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart wrote a long op-ed for CNN advising Joe Biden to skip the debates and not give President Trump a platform to distribute his “lies” to the American public.

On Monday, The New York Times followed suit, running an opinion piece that advised that presidential debates be “scrapped” altogether – out of nowhere.

Speaking of the New York Times, they were also the paper that ran a piece from Thomas Friedman suggesting that Biden should demand Trump’s tax returns as a condition of debate.

Stories discouraging Biden from debating the president have also run in Newsweek and other left-wing outlets.

Reacting to the flood of pieces, Townhall’s Guy Benson tweeted: “This ‘Biden shouldn’t debate’ boomlet is just a media tempest, right? Right?”

Benson’s tweet attracted the attention of CNN’s media observer and general idiot Brian Stelter, who tried his best to flip the script.

“It is mostly a right-wing media tempest, fueled by hour after hour of Fox commentary (not reporting), far removed from campaign reality,” Stelter advised.

That came as news to Benson, who fired back with a collection of screenshots of the left-wing media’s many, many articles pushing Biden to pull out of the debates.

“It seems,” Benson wrote, “as though this notion wasn’t invented out of whole cloth by conservatives. It’s an idea that has been floated by left-leaning figures/outlets.”

Rather than admitting that he’s a liberal shill who often makes an ass out of himself, Stelter came up with this ludicrous logic to defend his original assertion: “I’m well aware. But it’s a mistake to spend lots of precious time yakking about what leftie columnists are suggesting in this case. Obviously Biden will debate. Why imply otherwise to viewers, hour after hour?”

Well, because once is an aberration, but twice? Three times? More? That’s a pattern, and it suggests that these “leftie columnists” are working off of marching orders from the DNC. Perhaps even the Biden campaign. These columns are meant to soften up Democratic voters for the day when Biden announces that he’s not going to debate Trump for reasons a, b, and c. And instead of seeming like the shocking surrender that it is, it will seem perfectly normal because all of these opinion editors have tilled the soil.

So yeah, it’s absolutely worth talking about “hour after hour.” And you can bet that if Trump supporters were out there pushing the president to pull out of the debates, we would see Brian Stelter and his leftie friends do the same.
