See if you can imagine the following scenario: A Muslim university has a sports team called the Fawaris in reference to the ancient warriors of the Arab lands. Perhaps this name is accompanied by a mascot featuring a man riding a steed or something along those lines. And in the wake of terrorist attack after terrorist attack, this university decides, You know, we don’t really want to associate with the violent past of Islam, and Fawaris were, of course, known as warriors in their day. We’re going to phase that out and frankly, distance ourselves from Islam in general, because that’s just not what we want to represent right now. Can you imagine that happening? Anywhere?
Of course not. Why? Because there is nothing politically incorrect about Islam. The left ADORES Islam and considers its followers to be a protected class of citizen, above and beyond any criticism or complaint. So protected, in fact, that they will throw to the wolves any LIBERAL that dares tell the truth about Islam, such as Sam Harris. There is nothing wrong with Islam. Terrorism and violence is all about economic challenges and European colonization. It has nothing to do with religion. Muslims have nothing to be ashamed of.
Christians, on the other hand? Well, it doesn’t matter how far back into history you have to reach, the modern left will find a way to make you feel endlessly guilty about this terrible, oppressive, WHITE religion. And apparently they got to the front office of The College of the Holy Cross, because the president of the Massachusetts school announced this week that they were scrapping their Knight mascot.
“The visual depiction of a knight, in conjunction with the moniker Crusader, inevitably ties us directly to the reality of the religious wars and the violence the Crusades,” said Rev. Phillip Burroughs in a letter to students. “This imagery stands in contrast to our stated values. Over the coming months, the College will gradually phase out the use of all knight-related imagery.”
Now, it’s pretty silly that the school is going to retain the DIRECT tie to the Crusades – the name CRUSADERS – and do away with the knight mascot, but that’s apparently what passes for compromise with the extreme radicals on the left, of which there are plenty on the Holy Cross campus.
Like, how stupid does it get? Who honestly looks at a sports team’s mascot and name and feels all guilty and twisted inside about some wars that happened a thousand years ago? This is absolutely ridiculous and it has more to do with erasing Christian history and culture than it does about anything else. In fact, that’s the ONLY reason for this. SJWs, looking for something to complain about. Looking for something to “accomplish.” And Holy Cross giving them just what they want. Why? Who the hell knows…
