Proving once again that every day will bring us into a new and dismal realm of Democratic Party insanity, a committee empowered by Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser recommended this week that the Washington Monument and other Capital monuments and buildings be removed, relocated, or contextualized in the name of racial justice.

The committee, known as DC FACES, was formed in July to determine if area monuments and building names are “inconsistent with DC values and in some way encouraged the oppression of African Americans and other communities of color or contributed to our long history of systemic racism.”

Shockingly, they found that some were.

Here’s what they recommended for alteration in Tuesday’s report:

Using the Mayor’s position on the National Capital Memorial Advisory Commission, [to] recommend the Federal government remove, relocate, or contextualize the following assets:

    1. Christopher Columbus – Columbus Fountain (federal)

    2. Benjamin Franklin – Benjamin Franklin Statue (federal)

    3. Andrew Jackson – Andrew Jackson Statue (federal)

    4. Thomas Jefferson – Jefferson Memorial (federal)

    5. George Mason – George Mason Memorial (federal)

    6. Francis Griffith Newlands – Newlands Memorial Fountain (federal)

    7. Albert Pike – Albert Pike Statue (federal)

    8. George Washington – Washington Monument, George Washington Statue (federal)

In their report, DC FACES said: “In all instances we believe strongly that all District of Columbia owned public spaces, facilities and commemorative works should only honor those individuals who exemplified those values such as equity, opportunity and diversity that DC residents hold dear.”

Shortly after the committee made their report public, Sen. Tom Cotton reminded them of a very simple truth: “Hey D.C.—they’re not your monuments to rename or remove. They’re America’s monuments.”

The White House also issued a statement rejecting the premise.

“President Donald J. Trump believes these places should be preserved, not torn down; respected, not hated; and passed on for generations to come,” the statement read. “As long as President Trump is in the White House, the mayor’s irresponsible recommendations will go absolutely nowhere.”

We would hope that NO president would even consider this nonsense for a moment. But given how anemic and feckless Joe Biden has been in the face of these radicals, we certainly can’t say those hopes are very high.
