DeSantis Cuts Affiliation with State-level Committee

(TotalConservative.com) – On Thursday, Gov. Ron DeSantis broke ties with a Florida political committee with millions of dollars signaling his presidential campaign announcement is imminent.

Friends of Ron DeSantis is a multi-million dollar state-level committee, but in order for DeSantis to launch his bid for federal office he can no longer be affiliated with the committee. Their website states that Friends of Ron DeSantis are now affiliated with Sen. Blaise Ingoglia instead of DeSantis.

The committee has about $86 million in its coffers. Ingoglia, a friend and ally of DeSantis, helped back the governor’s agenda and will continue to support him.

Last Friday, DeSantis stated that he would be deciding soon if he’s going to officially launch his campaign for the presidency, although it seems almost certain at this point that that’s exactly what he plans on doing.

Once he enters the race, DeSantis will be up against former governor of South Carolina and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, former governor of Arkansas Asa Hutchinson, and entrepreneur and author Vivek Ramaswamy. Of course, the biggest obstacle every single one of these candidates will have to surmount to win the Republican nomination is former President Donald Trump, who is currently tied up in unprecedented legal battles.

DeSantis and his administration have been on a roll passing various bills over the last few weeks, trying to get as much done as possible before the presidential campaign puts him on double duty.

Lawmakers in Florida already cleared the way for this scenario by making adjustments to the law that will allow DeSantis to run for president without having to step down from his office as governor.

Trump and his allies have been accusing DeSantis of neglecting his gubernatorial duties by already running what they call a “shadow presidential campaign,” referring to DeSantis’ travels and networking over the last few months with the intention of running for president.
