(TotalConservative.com) – Eight Las Vegas teens will face murder charges after their brutal group assault on 17-year-old Jonathan Lewis Jr. resulted in his death. The attack occurred on November 1st and was captured in viral video clips, Lewis died on November 7th after being kept on life support with hopes he may recover.
The boy’s death was ruled a homicide by the city medical authorities, indicating he suffered fatal head trauma during the attack where over a dozen youths pummeled, kicked, and cursed at Lewis who was attempting to defend a smaller youth who the gang had robbed and tossed into a trash bin.
A friend of his was also savagely beaten but survived when he attempted to peel individuals off the swarm attacking Lewis who collapsed on the ground shortly after the melee began.
Las Vegas homicide Lieutenant Jason Johansson announced the arrests on Tuesday, November 14th. While eight minors between the ages of 13 and 17 were already arrested, Johansson said they anticipate at least two more busts in the coming days. The suspects are not being identified due to their ages.
Johansson indicated that the FBI had contributed to tracking and locating some of the suspects.
Investigators released some of the details about the brawl, suggesting the fight was prearranged by the combatants to resolve the theft of wireless headphones and a vape pen by the gang from one of Lewis’ friends. Lewis wasn’t supposed to be involved but went to support his friend who was.
In the video, Lewis is seen throwing the first punch and within seconds he’s jumped by at least ten individuals. He fell to the ground where they continued to savagely pummel him with kicks.
A good samaritan passing by found Lewis unconscious in the alley and carried him to the school where staff called 911. A GoFundMe set up by the family described him as a loving gentle young man who always stood up for his friends and younger siblings. At the time of writing, the page had raised $117,000. The money will go toward funeral expenses and helping establish an organization that reduces violence in Las Vegas schools by engaging fathers.
