(TotalConservative.com) – Brian Raymond, 47, stands accused of assaulting 25 women after using drugs to render them unconscious. His defense has recently hired memory expert Dr. Deborah Davis from the University of Nevada, according to recent court filings.
Davis’ expertise is memory while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and it is widely expected her testimony will be used to question the validity of the complaints from over two dozen women. She previously testified for Bill Cosby.
The filings state that Davis will elaborate on how consent is possible despite being blacked out or barely conscious.
Another professor from the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Elizabeth Loftus will also testify and attempt to impugn the recollections of the victims. Loftus’ expertise is in illustrating the process by which false memories can be created. She previously testified during the rape trial of infamous Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein as well as during Ghislaine Maxwell’s federal trafficking trial.
The FBI began to look into Raymond in 2020 after police in Mexico City received reports of a naked woman yelling from the balcony of his apartment. The rent on that apartment was covered by the U.S. Embassy. While the woman doesn’t have a clear recollection from that night, FBI agents found videos and pictures of him molesting unconscious women after obtaining a warrant for his phone.
Prosecutors accused Raymond of assaulting at least 25 women over 15 years across multiple countries, including the U.S. and Mexico. He was placed under arrest in October 2020 and was denied bond.
In announcing her decision to deny bail, U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly described him as a “predator” with the ability and desire to target unsuspecting women, abuse them after drugging them, and then discard them without a coherent memory of the event. She further classified his tendency for repeated assaults as a “fetish,” elaborating that the evidence showed him manipulating the victims while they were unconscious, including opening their eyelids, molesting their private parts, and playing with the mouth and tongue.
