Family Dream Home Turns Into a Nightmare

(TotalConservative.com) – A family in New Hampshire is stumped on how to deal with an ongoing encampment of homeless people behind their property, which keeps cropping up even after law enforcement has cleared them off the land multiple times.

When Robin Bach purchased her 19th-century home with her husband in order to raise their children in the quiet town of Concord, New Hampshire, they did not imagine having to contend with a large homeless encampment in the woods behind the house after spending years restoring and renovating it. What began as an idyllic setting to raise their two children, who are now 8 and 11 years old, turned into a nightmare over the last few years.

Bach told local reporters that she can’t even use her own backyard anymore and that her children are too afraid to go out there to play. The family purchased a swing set in 2020, which sits untouched in the backyard because the kids are too terrified to use it, preferring to only play in the front yard instead. Since the encampment began, the family has had encounters with homeless people that led to death threats, have heard screams coming from the woods, and even heard gunshots at one point.

Bach and her husband bought the house in 2018 to raise a family and spent several years fixing it up before the homeless population began to trickle in and plant themselves in the nearby woods, erecting tents and leaving behind trash. Since moving in, the couple made 37 calls to the police over incidents related to the encampment for basic area checks to incidents of trespassing and possible domestic abuse taking place at the encampment.

During one of the earliest incidents, a man was discovered sitting in the family’s backyard. He was previously seen by the couple lurking in the forest, and when they asked him to leave, the man threatened to shoot Bach’s husband. After the man returned again several more times, they filed a restraining order and he was eventually arrested and escorted off the property as Bach’s children watched in fear.

Bach said the situation is “the worst it’s ever been” as law enforcement is trying to figure out how to keep the homeless away. And even when the vagrants are kicked off the land, law enforcement is unable to help with the trash left behind on the private property, which residents have to clean up on their own.
