According to a new report from Chicago’s ABC affiliate network, the FBI has sent out a blanket warning to Chicago Police officers, citing new information out of the extensive gang cabal that dominates the city’s disadvantaged communities. According to the FBI, Chicago officers should be aware that these gangs have formed an alliance of sorts, vowing to shoot any cops they see with their guns drawn. The report says that the FBI field office in Chicago sent out a memo last week warning of the diabolical agreement.
“The ‘situational information report’ from FBI officials in Chicago dated August 26, 2020, states ‘members of these gang factions have been actively searching for, and filming, police officers in performance of their official duties. The purpose of which is to catch on film an officer drawing his/her weapon on any subject and the subsequent ‘shoot on-site’ of said officer, in order to garner national media attention,’” reported ABC Chicago.
The FBI acknowledges that their information was imperfect and based on “a contact whose reporting is limited and whose reliability cannot be determined.” Even so, the mere idea that there are insider reports circulating Chicago of this nature shows how tense the situation between cops and criminals has become in the Windy City.
In remarks to ABC Chicago, Police Superintendent David Brown said that his department was taking the threat extremely seriously.
“I think it’s bigger than a suggestion,” he said. “I think 51 officers being shot at or shot in one year, I think that quadruples any previous year in Chicago’s history. So I think it’s more than a suggestion that people are seeking to do harm to cops.
“Whether they’re associated with a gang or not we’ve seen increasing violence throughout,” he continued. “Shooting babies and kids with impunity with no regard for innocent bystanders. So I wouldn’t say that it’s associated with a specific, whether it’s a gang or culture, I think overall there’s this sense of lawlessness. We just can’t let our guard down for a moment. Our strategy is to be prepared for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
We don’t envy anyone out there on the job these days. Police are underappreciated in normal times; these days, they are outright despised by a sick movement and its braindead followers. We can only hope that the good ones – and there are many – will stick it out in the hopes of brighter days ahead. Our country surely needs them.
