(TotalConservative.com) – In his new book, “The Courage to be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for American Revival,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says he will “Make America Florida” by “combating a lot of powerful, elite institutions.”
The book focuses on applying the governing strategy DeSantis used to keep Florida thriving to the entire country, implying that he may bid for the White House to do just that.
In the new memoir, DeSantis details his approach to the 2020 pandemic, often going against the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and resulting in widespread backlash from liberal media and politicians, which he argues was worth it to “save the livelihoods of millions of people throughout Florida.”
DeSantis described the policies in response to the pandemic as “draconian,” and writes that he had to lead “aggressively to pursue policies that defy leftist ideology of the nation’s elites” for which he was held to the fire “by the legacy media… activist groups, Big Tech, and corporate America.”
According to DeSantis, what he’s fought for in Florida is not just about policy but “foundational principles” and that the way forward for the whole country “is not difficult to identify,” only requiring the use of “basic common sense and applying core American values to the problems of the day.”
DeSantis has yet to officially announce a campaign for the 2024 presidential election, but if there was ever a clear sign he plans on doing so, his new memoir would be it. The general consensus seems to be that he poses the biggest threat to Trump winning the GOP nomination.
The Florida governor would also be up against Nikki Haley, former governor of North Carolina and former UN Ambassador under Trump, although she would not pose as much of a challenge to DeSantis as her former boss. And although Haley seems to love touting her age (51) as a reason to vote for her compared to Trump (76) and Biden (80), DeSantis, who is 44, has even more of an advantage in that area than she does.
Meanwhile, multi-billionaire investor George Soros believes a DeSantis campaign against Trump would split the GOP vote enough to result in a Democrat landslide in the final election, which the financier hopes to see happen.
