David Hall’s 14-year stint with the Social Security Administration could be coming to an end, and the 42-year-old readily admits that he’s prepared for that avoidable outcome. Hall, a Christian, found himself on the verge of unemployment due to an LGBT inclusivity video that SSA workers were compelled to watch in the Spring. He declined to view the mandatory video and then further declined to sign a certification letter saying that he watched it.
“I’m not going to certify sin,” Hall said.
Hall doesn’t consider himself a martyr, and he says that he’s not a bigot either.
“My complaint is more with the fact that it was mandatory,” he said. “We have never done that for another particular class of people. This is the only group of individuals that we’ve done it for. We haven’t done it for veterans, the disabled, blacks, Hispanics, or anything else.”
Hall has already been officially reprimanded and suspended for two days without pay for refusing to play along with the SSA’s LGBT agenda, and he expects that he may be fired by the time it’s all said and done. No matter what, though, he doesn’t intend to watch the video.
“I would argue that it’s not a training video,” he said. “It’s promoting an agenda and a lifestyle that I simply don’t agree with.”
And why shouldn’t he have the right to stand firm on that position? In a way, this situation is even more ridiculous than the incidents we’ve seen with Christian bakers and country clerks. At least in those instances, there was a complainant involved. Hall doesn’t even work with the public! He’s an IT guy working on the computer system in Champaign, Illinois, for Christ’s sake. Why is it so important that he sit down and watch their gay propaganda?
“This is something I want to fight and expose, to give other Christians the courage of their convictions,” Hall said.
And that’s exactly why they want to nip this in the bud, of course. With the Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage, the left declared this a closed case. Now it’s just a matter of sweeping the country for those stubborn religious weeds that refuse to go with the flow. Liberals can’t stand a man with principles, and they’ll do everything in their power to make an example out of anyone with traditional values.
