In the third and final presidential debate of 2016, Donald Trump laid out one of the most passionate arguments against abortion that any Republican candidate has ever brought to the mainstream. Asked by Chris Wallace if he would like to see the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade, Trump said that it would be an inevitable side effect of his appointments.

“I am pro-life and I will be appointing pro-life judges,” Trump said. “I would think that would go back to the individual states.”

Hillary Clinton jumped in to express her support for the abortion ruling, but  her enthusiasm waned when Wallace asked her how far that support would go.

“You have been quoted as saying that the fetus has no constitutional rights,” Wallace said. “You also voted against a ban on late term partial birth abortions. Why?”

“Because Roe v. Wade very clearly sets out that there can be regulations on abortion so long as the life and the health of the mother are taken into account,” she replied. “The kinds of cases that fall at the end of pregnancy are often the most heartbreaking, painful decisions for families to make.”

Hillary said she did not “think the United States government should be stepping in and making those most personal of decisions.”

Funny how these Democrats suddenly want the federal government out of our lives when the subject of abortion comes up, isn’t it?

The question went back to Trump, whose graphic description of partial-birth abortion netted him plenty of scorn from the liberal media.

“I think it is terrible,” he said. “If you go with what Hillary is saying, in the ninth month you can take baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby. Now, you can say that that is okay and Hillary can say that that is okay, but it’s not okay with me.”

The pro-choice crowd has said that Trump’s description of the procedure was misleading.

They’re right. Trump actually downplayed the horror of a partial-birth abortion. He didn’t describe the way the doctor pulls the child halfway out of the womb before ending its life with a pair of surgical shears. He didn’t describe the second part of the procedure, which involves sucking the baby’s brains out through a tube. He didn’t come right out and say the plain truth of the matter, which is that “partial-birth abortion” is a meaningless phrase liberals use to replace the correct term: Murder.

Under Hillary’s administration, abortion won’t just remain legal. It won’t just continue to be funded with our tax dollars. It will be expanded. Worse, it will be normalized. Celebrated. Cherished.

And once we put our stamp of approval on infanticide, there’s no telling where the slippery slope will take us.
