(TotalConservative.com) – A woman drove her Chevy Impala into a building she mistook for being affiliated with Judaism after working herself up into a frenzy over the Israel-Hamas war. Ruba Almaghtheh, 34, was arrested on November 3rd after she drove into the Israelite School of Universal and Practical Knowledge (ISUPK) in Indianapolis.
Almaghtheh is originally from Jordan according to her Facebook page. Police released body cam footage in which she said she was “getting her anger out.” She denounced Israel and lambasted American support for the country.
No one was injured during the attack, but there were multiple children inside according to the Indianapolis Star.
Local TV affiliate WXIN-TV said that Almaghtheh thought the building was affiliated with Jews due to the name and symbols on the building. The ISUPK is a branch of Black Hebrew Israelites (BHI) that are infamous for their belief that black Jews are the only true Jews. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has previously labeled the group antisemitic and racist. They have strong black supremacist views and universally hate white people.
Police say Almaghtheth admitted to the attack and said she did it for “her people back in Palestine.” Officers called her a terrorist. She’s being held in Marion County Jail with a felony count of criminal recklessness but has yet to be formally charged. Additional charges may be forthcoming in light of the hate and terrorism allegations.
Captain Chaapash Yahawadah, the school’s leader said they were unaffiliated with the current Middle East conflict.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis published a statement that encouraged vigilance and heightened awareness due to the threat of physical violence against Jews. They said they were working with law enforcement to protect the community.
He said that while Jews were not the victim in this assault, they were the intended target which suggests security and vigilance are paramount during times of heightened international tensions.
