(TotalConservative.com) – Next month in Texas, the House Homeland Security Committee will be holding its first hearing about the migrant crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.
During the hearing, Republicans are looking to address the link between the chaotic situation at the border and the policies of President Joe Biden’s administration, and how these policies are affecting the entire nation.
The hearing is scheduled for March 15 and will take place in McAllen, Texas, aligning with Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy’s promise to have in-person hearings at the border once Republicans have taken the majority in order to bring more attention to the issues there.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Chairman Mark Green said that for two years “Americans have not been heard by the Democrat leadership in Washington as their communities have been decimated by the impacts of President Biden’s reckless border security policies.”
Geen also criticized Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas for “refusing to carry out laws on the books.” Green said that in response to these failures, the Homeland Security Committee will be “getting out of D.C.” in order to visit communities most affected by the border crisis.
According to Green, the hearing will provide an opportunity for the committee to see the facts firsthand and “make the case that the chaos and disorder” happening at the border “is a direct result” of Biden administration policies.
The surge of migrants is having a ripple effect across the nation, from small towns along the border itself to big cities like NYC which has seen an influx of over 50,000 migrants over the last year. This has put a strain on the city’s resources and placed Mayor Eric Adams in a sticky situation as he calls on the federal government to aid in the efforts to house and feed the new arrivals.
