Indiana Party Turns Deadly as Shooter Opens Fire

( – One 30-year-old man is dead and dozens of others were injured after shots were fired during a large party early Sunday morning, July 30th, in Muncie, Indiana.

9-1-1 dispatchers got a call at 1:14 am that indicated there were multiple gunshot victims in the area of E. Williard & S. Hackey Streets in Muncie.

City officials indicated there were multiple responding agencies including EMS and firefighter support due to the volume of injured. 19 people were treated for injuries at the IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital while others were airlifted to other facilities.

A 36 year old man, John L. Vance, was apprehended Tuesday afternoon and according to a statement from a spokesperson for the city of Muncie, was preliminarily charged with “several felonies.” Investigation into the cause of the shooting is ongoing.

At around the same time in Lansing, Michigan, another large gathering experienced an eruption of gunfire which led to multiple people being injured.

Police responded to a report of gunfire in the 1300 block of West Holmes Road and came upon multiple injured and a large crowd, seven people had injuries, two of them were critical. The emergency response included multiple agencies due to the volume of injured parties.

In that incident, the victims were 16-26 years old. Multiple shooters are suspected and multiple firearms were recovered at the scene.

There are few details as to what caused either of the conflicts in question, and police are actively investigating in both cases.

Another mass shooting occurred around the same time in Chicago where 9 women were shot, and one of them killed. Around 12:51 am a group of women were gathered outside in the 1500 block of South Keeler when a group exited a black jeep and opened fire.

A 21-year-old woman was shot in the face and died at the hospital. Another 28-year-old was shot 8 times and is listed in critical condition. The other 7 injured women were in good condition. The shooters remain at large and police are investigating.

All three shootings occurred within a short time frame of one another in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 30th across the midwest.
