Former Vice President Joe Biden had a perfect chance to put some daylight between himself and the so-called progressive “Squad” in the House Democratic Caucus this week, but he instead proved that he will do or say anything to cozy up to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her socialist pals. Running as a moderate alternative to the radicals in the party, Biden has eschewed Medicare for All and other ludicrous policies for a more incremental approach to progressivism. But when push comes to shove, he’s not willing to irritate that rabid base of lunatics who support the AOC’s of the world.
“AOC is brilliant,” he told MSNBC’s Mike Brzezinski, “and the other three women we’re talking about are really smart, but they are the exception rather than the rule. I think the freshmen – particularly AOC – is smart as hell, really bright, and really a value added to the party.”
Lay it on a little thicker, Joe. Maybe she’ll let you sniff her hair.
On his show Tuesday night, Sean Hannity had a ball roasting Biden for his lack of pride.
“He is now pandering to every corner of this new extreme socialist Democratic party. Going so far as to describe congresswoman, the real Speaker of the House, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as both smart as hell and brilliant,” Hannity said. “She’s been taking a lot of shots at him, he’s sucking up.”
Indeed, Ocasio-Cortez has been highly critical of Biden’s climate change plans, which have not been of the extreme, radical flavor that she prefers.
“This idea that we can go back to the good old days with Obama with Obama’s vice president,” AOC said a couple of months ago, “there’s an emotional element to that. But I don’t want to go back. I want to go forward.”
Guess that endorsement isn’t going to be easy to come by, Mr. Vice President.
“But here’s the thing, Biden can try and suck up, cozy up to the new extreme left all he wants. They’re never going to accept him. And never going to endorse him in the Democratic primary,” Hannity said. “Here’s a prediction Uncle Joe, this is only going to get worse. Remember the questions are only going to get tougher the scrutiny on Biden will only intensify. The question is just how far left is sleepy, creepy, crazy Uncle Joe willing to go to try and appease these out of touch out of control leaders of his party.”
And every time he tries it, he’s going to lose a little bit of that “moderate” appeal that makes him the ONLY threat to Trump in the 2020 field. Well, it will be fun to watch.
