Johnny Depp has been begging for a good, solid punch in the face for quite a while, and we would love to see President Donald Trump be the one to give him what he deserves.

If Depp didn’t earn his face-punch with that abysmal turn as Willy Wonka or his insufferable performance as the Mad Hatter, he definitely earned it with his treatment of his ex-wife, Amber Heard. But regardless of your feelings on Depp as an actor or a husband, he put his status as an eminently-punchable Hollywood moron beyond dispute this week when he insinuated that he’d like to kill the president of the United States.

In Somerset, England for the Glastonbury Festival on Thursday, the Pirates of the Caribbean star prepared the audience of 1,500 for his disturbing, Secret-Service-investigation-worthy “joke”:

“It’s just a question,” he said. “I’m not insinuating anything. By the way, this is going to be in the press. It will be horrible. I like that you are all a part of it.”

After acknowledging that he knew that what he was going to say was going to receive an extraordinary amount of backlash (thus eliminating any possibility of being able to use the Kathy Griffin “oops” defense afterwards), Depp made his controversial, punch-worthy comment.

“When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?” he asked.

After making what was an obvious reference to John Wilkes Booth, the stage actor who shot Abraham Lincoln, Depp attempted – weakly – to distance himself from the clear meaning of his question.

“I want to qualify, I am not an actor,” he said. “I lie for a living. However, it has been a while and maybe it is time.”

Well, Depp is right that he isn’t an actor – he’s more of a clown at this point – but whether he was insinuating that HE should kill President Trump or that it should be some other actor, the comment remains just as reprehensible. How could anyone with a brain larger than a pea think this was a good thing to joke about? Especially less than two weeks after a deranged liberal tried to kill several Republican congressmen in Virginia? Either Depp desperately needs drug treatment or he should think seriously about relocating permanently to the south of France or wherever it is he spends the majority of his time these days.
