(TotalConservative.com) – Fans of the iconic series Lord of the Rings were inflamed and angered by art for a new card game replacing the likeness of Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn in the films, with a black man.
The new depiction of Aragorn will appear on a LOTR-themed version of Magic: The Gathering. The card game’s parent company, Wizards of the Coast is well-known for its woke-left-leaning ideology and has since become a subsidiary of Hasbro.
The artwork was published on Twitter on Monday, May 29th and advocates suggest it improves representation for minority groups while critics argue they’re clearly appropriating the source material to push critical race ideology.
Angered fans also pointed out the double standard, suggesting it would be infuriating to suggest a fair-skinned depiction of iconic black characters like Black Panther.
One Twitter user called it “race-baiting” and “a publicity stunt.” Another suggested it didn’t matter and wasn’t sure why anyone cared at all. Someone else made the observation that the only time races are swapped is when they’re replacing a white character or actor with a black version. The new live-action Disney adaptation of The Little Mermaid is a contemporary example.
Idris Elba is also the next in line to play the role of James Bond. Woke leftists are constantly crying racism and trying to victimize black actors. Amazon had a therapist on-set to supposedly help the actors of color cope with the backlash from “racists” who were upset about the studio’s decision to make some characters black, including elves, which were always described as fair-skinned.
“It’s not about race. It’s about authenticity and honesty,” said one Twitter user. His comment garnered over 1,100 likes at the time of writing.
“If someone reimagined Storm as a white lady and I got upset… would I still be racist?” asked another.
Woke brands will continue to push critical race theory and LGBTQ nonsense, it’s up to individual consumers to vote with their dollars and let brands know that they don’t want politics with their products.
