(TotalConservative.com) – Marianne Williamson, self-help and spiritual author, announced she will be running for President of the United States once again, becoming the first Democrat contender to challenge President Biden who’s still expected to run for a second term.
In a Facebook post over the weekend, Williamson said it was “odd” for anyone to claim they “know who can win the presidency,” indirectly referencing Trump’s 2016 win without mentioning the former president, implying that her winning the White House could be just as possible.
The 70-year-old author claims she’s not putting herself through this again “just to add to the conversation,” but is “running for president to help bring an aberrational chapter of our history to a close, and to help bring forth a new beginning.” Williamson also plans on traveling to various states that are voting early in the Democratic primary after her official announcement in Washington this Saturday.
Biden has yet to announce his campaign for a second term, so Williamson is technically the only Democrat in the race currently. Meanwhile, former President Trump announced his three months ago and is already on the campaign trail for the Republican nomination.
A few other Republicans have since stepped up to challenge the former president. First, Nikki Haley announced her campaign, calling for a “new generation of leadership” in Washington, D.C. Vivek Ramaswamy also jumped into the race, pushing back against identity politics and running on a mission of uniting the country under a renewed national identity as Americans.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also seems to be heading closer toward announcing a run for president, something he’s been hinting at for a while now and that many Republicans are anticipating. DeSantis perhaps stands the greatest chance of swiping the GOP nomination away from Trump.
Whether or not Williamson has a decent shot to go up against Trump, Haley, Ramaswamy, or DeSantis in the final election remains to be seen, and will depend not only on whether or not Biden actually runs but also on who else decides to throw their hat into the ring.
