(TotalConservative.com) – Are Democrats using the document scandal to give Joe Biden the boot? That’s what GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida hypothesizes, stating on Wednesday to Fox News Digital that this “feels like the Democrats are taking out Joe Biden.”
He elaborated that he doesn’t “know that that’s the case” but also doesn’t know that it isn’t. Gaetz said now that the President is “hardening the cement around his decision to run” for a second term, all of a sudden they are “looking for what classified documents might have been tucked away eight years ago.” One certainly has to wonder why.
Over the last couple of months, three batches of documents from Biden’s time in the Obama administration have been discovered in two separate locations. Two were located at his private residence in Wilmington, Delaware, and one batch was found at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C. The scandal has dominated headlines since, and the Justice Department started to investigate immediately after the first batch was uncovered by Biden’s lawyers in D.C. last November shortly before the midterms, although the story wasn’t made public until after New Year’s.
After more documents were uncovered at the president’s home in Delaware, Attorney General Merrick Garland started a special counsel investigation. Some are saying it could be one of the biggest political scandals in the history of the United States, and questions are being raised about how much Merrick Garland knew beforehand; and why these particular documents were separated out, divided between different locations, and held onto after Biden left the Executive Branch as Vice President. There’s speculation that some of the contents of the documents may have to do with his son Hunter, corrupt ties to the Ukrainian government, and unnamed Chinese donors related to the Penn Biden Center.
Gaetz points out that “there an element of this where it’s Joe Biden’s lawyer who turns this information over… [his] own Justice Department that’s appointed a special counsel to investigate him,” speculating that perhaps “Democrats have realized [he] is not useful to them anymore” and they may be looking to “toss him out” for a “younger crop of candidates” in the 2024 presidential race. Gaetz does clarify that speculation is all we have until the contents of the documents are actually revealed.
As they prepare for the 2024 campaign season, Biden’s aides are downplaying the scandal as “D.C. noise.”
