(TotalConservative.com) – Kentucky Republican and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is clearly still not well after his fall a few months ago. McConnell froze right at the beginning of his speech during a press conference on Wednesday.
McConnell stepped up to a podium in the afternoon, began speaking about the completion of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), then suddenly trailed off, stopping mid-sentence. He was then awkwardly escorted away from the podium as South Dakota Republican Sen. John Thune swooped in to resume the press conference about the first anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act.
It also came out on Thursday that earlier in July, McConnell fell and it went unreported, which is serious when considering what happened the last time.
The 81-year-old Senate Minority leader took a hard tumble in March at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Washington, D.C., and ended up in the hospital with a concussion and broken ribs, undergoing surgery. He stayed in the hospital for five days and then went through rehabilitation. In mid-April, McConnell returned to the Senate.
Questions about McConncell’s health and age were already in the air before his fall, and have been unrelenting after. Now with the freezing incident and a new report of an unreported second fall before that, the conversation is heading more in the direction of whether or not McConnell should resign.
After the fall, McConnell was questioned later that evening about how he felt and whether or not he would see a doctor. He responded repeated that he was “fine.” He also made jokes when mentioning that President Joe Biden, who is about the same age as McConnell, called to check up on him. McConnell said he told the president he “got sandbagged,” referring to one of Biden’s recent tripping incidents.
Before heading back to the Senate floor, McConnell said, “Gotta watch those sandbags.”
