Apparently NBC Today Show host Savannah Guthrie is one of many individuals on the left who hasn’t yet heard the news: Donald Trump did not collude with the Russians to steal the 2016 election. It was all a sham. Did Russia meddle? Sure, why not. They hacked a few emails, ran a few Facebook ads, and trolled a bit on social media. Call the election police and get over it. But for anyone of good faith to still be arguing – or even suggesting – that Russian interference played a significant role in the outcome of the election – that’s embarrassing.
And when Guthrie brought it up to former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday, asking her if the interference “actually worked” to keep Hillary Clinton from winning the presidency, Rice gave her the answer she deserved.
“I don’t think there is any evidence of that. And, you know, I really don’t think that’s a good conversation to have,” Rice said. “I think that really does devalue the people in Wisconsin and Michigan and others who decided to vote for President Trump. Whether you like this president or not, whether you believe that he should have been president or not, let’s give the credit to the Americans who went out and voted for somebody who they thought would bring change.
“The question is: Are we going to be responsive to some of the messages that were out there … people who felt that they were disadvantaged by globalization – the unemployed coal miner in West Virginia, the opioid-addicted person in Pennsylvania – are we going to be responsive to those people? That’s really the question we should be asking,” Rice continued.
Well, that question’s no fun, because the answer from Democrats is a resounding, “Uh, no.” They’re far too concerned with helping illegal immigrants get a first-class ticket to San Francisco to have any time left over for domestic issues. And since their platform is a glaring wasteland of socialism, gun-grabbing, and other bad ideas, they have no choice but to put the spotlight on Trump, Russia, and the imaginary obstruction of justice he committed in service of escaping their hoax/coup attempt.
Good for Condoleezza Rice for setting the record straight on national television. It’s too bad that people like Guthrie won’t stop perpetuating this long-debunked lie.
