We’ve been saying for months that the extremist propaganda coming out of the left-wing in this country is going to get someone killed, and we take no pleasure – grim or otherwise – in being right. It is only by God’s grace that House Majority Whip Steve Scalise survived the heinous shooting attack that unfolded on Wednesday; four others were wounded, two critically. The shooter himself, James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Ill, was killed by congressional police in the melee.

In the hours after the shooting, investigators found that Hodgkinson was a Bernie Bro who had extremely negative views on President Trump and the Republican Party. And while his friends and family describe him as a “nice guy,” it is clear that something happened in the last few months that radicalized the 66-year old home inspector. Radicalized him enough to think it was a good idea to go kill some members of Congress as they practiced for an upcoming baseball game.

A look at Hodgkinson’s Facebook profile reveals a man who spent his free time dwelling on the evils of the GOP. Along with many references to 2016 Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders, his page proclaimed him a member of many anti-Republican social media groups, including:

“Terminate the Republican Party”

“Illinois Berner United to Resist Trump”

“The Road to Hell is Paved with Republicans”

and

“Donald Trump is not my President”

In one instance, Hodgkinson signed an online Impeach Trump petition with the comment: “It’s time to destroy Trump & co.”

In another comment, the shooter said, “I Want to Say Mr. President, for being an ass hole you are Truly the Biggest Ass Hole We Have Ever Had in the Oval Office.”

What Hodgkinson lacked in wit, he made up for in pure insanity.

Aaron Muerer, a neighbor of the lunatic, told the local newspaper that Hodgkinson had not been around for the last couple of months.

“I knew he was a Democrat, a pretty hardcore one. I know he wasn’t happy when Trump got elected but he seemed like a nice enough guy,” said Meurer. “He seemed like he was semi-retired, he was home a lot. I didn’t really talk to him too much. He was a Democrat and I was a Republican so we didn’t have too much to talk about.”

Meurer said he suspected that while his neighbor appeared to be a “normal guy,” that perhaps “this Democratic rhetoric made him snap.”

When it comes to violence, no one really deserves the full blame other than the perpetrator. That said, the left has done everything they can over the last few months (and really, since July of 2015) to radicalize Americans against Donald Trump. And that’s not even getting into their recent forays into assassination-hints, including the Kathy Griffin debacle and the Julius Caesar play in New York. We’ll stop short of saying the Democrats have blood on their hands, but they need to use this occasion to think long and hard about what they’re doing to this country and what kinds of people they are reaching with their outrageous propaganda against the president.
