First we were told (by CNN’s Chris Cuomo, among others) that the only reason conservatives cared about Mollie Tibbetts was that she was white and her murderer is a man of Hispanic ethnicity. Then we were told (by Elizabeth Warren, among others) that while Tibbetts’ murder was tragic and all, the real tragedy was the “mamas and babies” that had been separated by Trump’s awful policies at the border. And now, thanks to the UK Independent, we’re apparently to understand that, in actuality, NO ONE cares about Mollie Tibbetts and, indeed, we’re all just dumb victims of another Russian ploy to divide Americans and distract us from the much more important news (which is to say, news that looks bad for President Trump).

A network of Russian-linked Twitter accounts have been disseminating divisive content about Mollie Tibbetts’ death in an apparent attempt to divert attention from explosive news surrounding Donald Trump and his former associates.
Almost immediately after a guilty verdict was announced in the trial of Paul Manafort, the president’s former campaign chairman convicted on eight counts of bank and tax fraud charges, there was a flurry of activity among hundreds of pro-Kremlin Twitter accounts believed to be controlled by Russian government influence operations. Those accounts began posting thousands of tweets about Ms Tibbetts, the 20-year-old University of Iowa student who had been missing for nearly five weeks.
Throughout most of Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday, #MollieTibbetts was the most shared hashtag among the Russian-linked Twitter accounts monitored by ASD. The accounts tweeted out a link to one Fox News story referring to Mr Rivera in its headline as an “illegal immigrant” hundreds of times, among other stories highlighting the 24-year-old suspect’s immigration status.
See, you rubes! You don’t really care about this girl! Just like you didn’t really support Donald Trump in 2016. You were just fooled into thinking you cared about these things by those nefarious Russians and their wily ways.
Well, okay, so maybe you aren’t buying that. Maybe you’ll appreciate this: According to CNN’s Symone Sanders, the thing to take away from the Tibbetts case is not that her killer was an illegal immigrant…it’s that he was a man.
“Mollie Tibbetts was murdered b/c she told a man to leave her alone while she was jogging,” Sanders opined on Twitter. “Her murderer happens to be undocumented. This isn’t about border security. This is about toxic masculinity. Mollie Tibbetts lost her life b/c a man couldn’t take her saying no. Full stop.”
Cool. Good to know that we’re following the Islamic terrorism playbook in this case, where we can be certain that no matter how blatant the facts may be, the problem is always, always, always something unrelated to whatever special minority the left is trying to protect.
Toxic masculinity, Vladimir Putin, white supremacy. Who knows how deep the BS will stack by the time the left is done making excuses…?
