In an attempt to make her steadfast refusal to fund the wall a tenable political position, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her cohorts in the Democratic Party have argued that President Trump is “manufacturing a crisis” at the border. It’s not real. There is no crisis, only racist fantasies of stopping all brown people from getting into the country. That’s why the wall is immoral and wrong. But you know, fencing – put up by a proper, ethical, moral Democrat president – that would be just swell.

Well, the truth is that the crisis at the border is anything but manufactured. It is real, and it is rapidly turning into a cultural, economic, and humanitarian crisis of the grandest proportions. The longer this shutdown goes on, the more this truth is going to rise to the surface. Americans want Congress to get in there, get to work, and compromise on a solution that includes rock-solid border security.

Here’s a few reasons why.

Caravans Upon Caravans

The caravans that have recently reached Tijuana are just the tip of the iceberg. Just last week, we learned that new caravans are forming in Central America. This weekend, we learned that Mexican officials – after a lot of tough talk about stopping the progress of these migrants – simply abandoned their posts and left the gates open for these latest caravans to move through unimpeded. Without a wall – without any change in the laws that govern asylum-seekers – this problem will only grow worse.

Terrorists at the Border

The media can claim all day long that there are not hundreds of terrorists trying to sneak their way into the country from Mexico. Maybe they’re right. Maybe only one or two are bundled up with the caravans. Maybe only a couple of Islamic radicals are paying drug smugglers to get them into the border towns. Perhaps only one single jihadist is right now attempting to move into Texas from northern Mexico. It only took fifteen such individuals to visit unthinkable tragedy on this country. What could one or two do? Do we really want to find out?

Children are Dying

In the past month or so, we’ve gotten two reports of children dying shortly after making the long trek across Central America and Mexico. The media has used this as an excuse to attack the Trump administration, but these stories actually demonstrate why it’s so important that we put an end to these dangerous journeys. Putting up an impenetrable wall would be a very good step towards doing so.

The fact is that the Democrats know there is a crisis, and they know it isn’t manufactured. The problem is, they don’t want to do anything about it. The more welfare-leeching, left-leaning, dependent people they can get into this country, the more they can grow the government. And that’s before we even get into their plans for legalization, which would instantly turn these refugees and illegals into Democrat Party voters. They’re willing to destroy this country if it means increasing their power. This crisis is theirs.
