(TotalConservative.com) – Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California declared in a recent interview that saving children is a priority for her party, yet her remark wasn’t in reference to abortion-on-demand policies but gun control.
On Saturday, June 8, Pelosi posted a video on social media showing clips of the former House Speaker at various gun-control events alongside gun-control activists. Accompanying the roughly two-minute video was a caption declaring that “no one’s political survival is more important” than the survival of America’s children, and praised “survivors and advocates” for turning their “pain into purpose” by demanding a ban on assault weapons. The caption ends by telling people to hashtag “Wear Orange” and to “Vote Blue” in order to stop Republicans from getting in the way of “commonsense solutions to gun violence.”
The post was in commemoration of “Wear Orange Weekend,” a gun-control campaign organized by Everytown for Gun Safety, a left-wing activist group.
Critics of Pelosi were quick to point out the contradiction in her and other Democrats’ messaging, pointing out how they express concern for children who die from firearms incidents yet all support loose abortion laws across the country in their jurisdictions. Critics also pointed out the hypocrisy of Democrats supporting so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors while campaigning to protect kids from guns. Overall, Democrats are okay with using dead children to promote a cause such as gun control but not when it comes to aborting babies or putting minors on puberty blockers to deal with gender confusion.
Pelosi also identifies as a practicing Catholic, and her critics have long pointed out the contradiction in this identity with her pro-abortion voting record throughout her entire political career. She was even refused Communion at a local diocese in San Francisco.
When Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, Pelosi said the decision jeopardized the “health, freedom, and safety of women.” She has since vowed to enshrine abortion access into federal law if the Democrats keep the White House and claim enough seats in Congress.
