Ramaswamy Claims He Would Pardon Trump

(TotalConservative.com) – GOP presidential candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy appeared on CNN on Sunday and promised once again that if he came president, he would pardon former President Donald Trump.

Kasie Hunt, a guest anchor on “State of the Union,” noted that new charges of obstruction of justices have been added to the case against Trump last week, for allegedly ordering an aide to delete Mar-a-Lago security footage after learning that the Department of Justice wanted to subpoena the footage. Hunt stated she knows Ramaswamy has “repeatedly” claimed he would pardon the former president. Given the new information, she asked him if he would “still pardon him” if Ramaswamy wins the White House.

Ramaswamy replied that “the standard” he would use “as our next president” is what will move the country forward, asking “what is the right thing” for the U.S. as a whole. He then said he “would pardon [Trump],” that he intends to be the next president, and that he believes he “will move us forward.” Ramaswamy said “one of the right ways” to move forward is to “pardon the former president” from what he describes as a “politicized persecution.”

The GOP presidential candidate thinks “the general norm” in the DOJ should be to “not convict” others “of a process crime” without an “actual underlying crime.” Kent then asked Ramaswamy if he thinks “destroying evidence is a process crime,” to which he replied it is “by definition a process crime” because it would not have existed as a crime if there was no existing investigation.

Not only is Ramasamy promising to pardon Trump, but he’s also called on the other 2024 presidential candidates to make the same promise to do so if they happen to win the race.

Ramaswamy is catching up in the polls for the GOP nomination, although the main proactive challenger to Trump remains Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis who’s in the process of restructuring his campaign after a few missteps.
