(TotalConservative.com) – Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is facing another wave of criticism for taking a scholarship from the brother of George Soros and then not being very clear on his reasoning.
The 38-year-old author and biotech entrepreneur was awarded a grant of $90,000 to cover some of the cost of attending Yale Law School. Nothing particularly unusual about this. What fellow conservatives and Republicans find unusual is who he received the grant from: the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship.
Paul Soros is the brother of George Soros, whose name has become notorious for being associated with conspiracies to control world events and influence politics through a network of foundations and associations. Matt Palumbo details this network in his book The Man Behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network of George Soros.
After taking fire for receiving the grant from a member of the Soros family, Ramaswamy said he only accepted the grant because he didn’t have enough money to cover tuition. This was found to be unlikely, as his 2011 tax returns show a reported income of $2.2 million the same year he started law school, and $1.1 million for the three years prior to that, which Ramaswamy made as a hedge fund analyst.
Ramaswamy said he “didn’t have the money,” and also explained that the scholarship was one based on merit that is awarded to “hundreds of kids” and is only “partially funded” by Paul Soros. A campaign spokesperson gave the same explanation when asked, adding that Ramaswamy would’ve “been a fool” to turn down the scholarship.
He also claimed that he received the scholarship before George Soros went “off the rails” with pushing leftwing political policies and causes, but this also isn’t true. The businessman and philanthropist started pushing such politics in the 1990s and was a major donor in opposition to former Republican President George W. Bush.
His connection to the Soros family used to appear on Wikipedia, but according to a Mediate report, Ramaswamy “made an intentional effort” to remove the information, even paying an editor of the website to scrub any details that could potentially damage his reputation. This happened in May, just a few weeks before announcing his bid for the White House.
Ramaswamy is currently the third leading candidate for the 2024 GOP nomination.
