In a very timely expose, Paul Sperry reported in the New York Post this week that the vast majority of board members, executives, and shareholders working at Twitter have donated almost exclusively to liberal Democrats over the past two years. At a time when the social media giant is promising Congress, the media, and the world that they have no political agenda in running the site, the federal records give us the latest insight into who is really running this company. And it makes it all the more suspicious when reports come out, as they did last week, that Twitter is hiding Republicans in the search results, shadow-banning their posts, and cutting into the followers collected by important conservative voices.
According to the records reviewed by Sperry, a full 80% of Twitter’s corporate PAC contributions in 2018 went to Democrats, and Sperry goes out of his way to note that “none of them are moderates.” No corporate money went to Republicans or President Donald Trump. Liberals also got the lion’s share of Twitter’s political donations in the 2016 election cycle.
The same holds true for the individuals who make up Twitter’s brass.
From the NY Post:
Twitter CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey also donates only to Democrats. And in 2017, he and executive chairman Omid Kordestani together donated $530,000 to the ACLU to fight Trump’s executive order imposing a temporary travel ban on immigrants from high-risk Muslim countries, which Dorsey called “upsetting” but which the Supreme Court recently ruled constitutional. All told, Twitter gave $1.6 million to the anti-Trump ban effort.
Kordestani is a big Democrat donor, contributing the maximums to Clinton and Obama, as well as to former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. In 2011, moreover, the Tehran-born exec gave $35,800 to the Obama Victory Fund and another $30,800 to the Democratic National Committee.
Also snubbing Republicans is Twitter Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, who has given exclusively to Democrats, including several thousands of dollars to Obama and former presidential candidate John Kerry. Segal has also contributed to DNC coffers.
This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Twitter’s political donations, but you get the picture. These Silicon Valley technocrats are swimming in cash, and they are giving nearly all of it to Democrats and anti-Trump causes. That’s all fine and well, but you’re not going to then turn around and tell us that all of these censorship activities just happen to accidentally target Republicans and supporters of the president. We were born at night, but not last night.
