Over the weekend, two conflicting reports emerged. In the Washington Post, it was reported that the Trump administration had made a deal with the Mexican government that would keep caravan migrants in Tijuana until it was their turn to apply for refugee status in the States. Then, the Mexican government came out and said the report was inaccurate and that no deal had been made.

Either way, President Trump has made it clear that he does not intend to throw open the doors to the country and allow thousands of caravan immigrants into the United States at one time. Each will get their chance to apply for asylum, but they will have to be patient and wait their turn.

Or not.

According to a group that helped the Central Americans travel from Honduras to Mexico, many of the migrants have no intention at all of waiting their turn to cross the border. According to officials from Angels Without Borders, caravan migrants are currently discussing a plan to rush over the fence en masse in what would be a direct provocation of the Trump administration.

“They have that intention,” said AWP official Sergio Tamai in an interview with Telemundo. “I believe that thousands could make that jump.”

That could very well spell catastrophe at the border. Already, more than 3,000 immigrants are waiting in Tijuana for their chance to cross at the check point in San Diego. Another 6,000-8,000 are expected in the coming weeks. If these migrants decide, as a group, to rush the fence and make a break for it, things could go wrong very easily. Even if they don’t, such a sudden influx would completely overwhelm our Border Patrol’s ability to detain and feed the migrants. They are already under tremendous strain given the surge of the last couple of months.

“Most of us, yes, we want to be on the other side,” one Honduran migrant told Telemundo. “Some want to jump over the wall, others to go another way, and others want to wait and see what kind of response they get.”

President Trump is pressuring Congress to change the laws to allow the administration more enforcement at the border, but Democrats are signaling that they have no interest in tackling tougher regulations. In an interview with NBC this weekend, Rep. Elijah Cummings warned the president that caravan migrants must be allowed into the country immediately.

“They should be allowed to come in, seek asylum,” said the Democrat. “That’s the law.”

Asked if he would support changing the law, Cummings said simply: “No.”

These traitors want nothing more than to sell our country down the river and allow hundreds of thousands – if not millions – of Central American refugees to come pouring across the border. That situation will be every bit as disastrous for us as it has been for Western Europe. We cannot, and must not, allow that to happen.

Trump has to do what he has to do.
