(TotalConservative.com) – Alissa McCommon, 38, of Covington, Tennessee was arrested at her home and charged with a 2021 rape of a minor boy student. McCommon was subject to an investigation after several allegations of inappropriate relations with minor children surfaced, according to local police. McCommon’s husband was reportedly stunned by his wife’s arrest.
Police indicate that they received a referral from the Tennessee Department of Children Services (DCS) pertaining to a former student and a teacher identified as McCommon. Their investigation revealed she had been suspended in relation to the allegations from her position at Challenger Academy in Tipton County.
Police said that multiple victims then came forward saying that McCommon had befriended, played video games, and chatted with them on social media. This eventually led to McCommon sending inappropriate photos and requesting adult activities from the students. The process is known as grooming and is how a predator mentally prepares their victims to minimize the risk of getting caught.
Additional victims and witnesses are being interviewed and it’s likely additional charges will be forthcoming. Police said they would also be scrutinizing other adults in the case who knew about the crimes without reporting them or facilitated the abuse in any way.
The current charge against McCommon is for raping a boy age 12 or younger, according to Covington Police Chief Donna Turner. Authorities further said that there was no evidence any of the criminal abuse of the boys occurred at the school itself. Police also said that McCommon admitted to having inappropriate contact with the boys during an interview they had as a part of their investigation.
McCommon’s attorney has claimed his client is innocent, saying she’s the subject of a “witch hunt” while asking the public to refrain from making judgments at this time. She’s being held in jail on a $25,000 bond and is set to make her first court appearance on October 13.
