Trump Blamed For His Own Attack

(TotalConservative.com) – The co-founders of the media outlet Axios have a message for former President Donald Trump, who they say has another chance to “redefine” himself and unify the country while also essentially blaming him for his assassination attempt.

On Monday, July 15, Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen, the co-founders of Axios, published an op-ed about the attempted assassination of Trump two days prior, on July 13, at a rally in Pennsylvania. The two co-founders said that surviving the shooting in Butler County has given Trump a “rare, precious, and definitions” moment in time, which they called a “fleeting chance to redefine himself,” the upcoming election, and the country at large.

Critics of the message accuse the Axios founders of essentially blaming the former president for his own attempted assassination. They argue it represents a “moment” for him to change while none of his critics, many of whom have compared Trump to Adolf Hitler, are expected to change their Rhetoric that inspired someone to view him as an existential threat to the country enough to shoot at him.

VandeHei and Allen said Trump could “unify” the country by giving a speech showing “humility,” which they said the former president “rarely shows.” They suggested he admit that his rhetoric was “too tough, too loose,” and “too combative.” They suggested Trump make a promise to “tone it down,” while not making any such requests about the Democratic Party and the sitting president.

More than simply blaming Trump for the attack like the Axios founders, many online have been speculating that the former president organized it against himself in order to generate sympathy ahead of the election. Some have even suggested that real bullets weren’t used, inspiring backlash from critics who pointed out the fact that a man died at the rally during the shooting.

Conspiracy theories also swirl around the alleged shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks, who some believe wasn’t the real shooter, or was one of multiple shooters. The latest theory making the rounds is that another shooter was positioned on a nearby water tower.

Trump, who appeared at the Republican National Convention days later looking somber, has not responded to VandeHei and Allen, nor any of the conspiracy theories accusing him of staging his assassination attempt.
