Trump Comes for DeSantis Again, Accusing the Florida Governor of “Grooming”

( – In his latest attack on the Florida Governor, former President Donald Trump accuses Ron DeSantis of “grooming high school girls.”

On Tuesday, Trump posted a photo of a young, smiling DeSantis at a party alongside three women with blurred-out faces on his Truth Social page. The text on the picture said, “Here is Ron DeSantimonious grooming high school girls with alcohol as a teacher” with an accompanying sarcastic caption by Trump. Of course, Trump himself has also been accused of misconduct with young women, allegations that he denies.

The photo has circulated online before, and The New York Times reported on it last November. According to the Times, the photo dates back to the 2001-2002 school year while DeSantis worked at the Darlington School in Georgia. This is the first time Trump has shared the photo in order to try and discredit DeSantis, who many see as the biggest potential rival of Trump for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024.

DeSantis responded to the post during a press conference on Wednesday, stating he has “faced defamatory stuff every single day I’ve been governor” which “just goes with the territory.” He also stated that he doesn’t spend his time “trying to smear other Republicans” but on “delivering results for the people of Florida” as well as fighting Joe Biden.

The Truth Social post is the latest in a series of criticisms Trump has aimed at DeSantis, which he tends to deliver through his social media platform. Just last week, Trump posted on Truth Social that DeSantis is “a RINO GLOBALIST”. Before that, Trump called him “disloyal” while on the campaign trail, and last year he released a statement following DeSantis’ gubernatorial re-election victory, calling DeSantis “average” while also taking credit for saving his political career.

So far, DeSantis has not announced a campaign to run for president in 2024, although he has dropped some hints and many suspect that he’s preparing to do so. Trump’s attacks make it clear that he sees the Florida governor as his greatest threat to his efforts to return to the White House.
