(TotalConservative.com) – In a surprising and bold move, former President Donald Trump posted for the first time on Twitter since his last post two days after the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021.
The first post that Trump shared to mark his return to Twitter is his mug shot, which was taken earlier the same day after he turned himself in to be booked in Fulton County, Georgia. Trump was indicted in Fulton County last week by District Attorney Fani Willis, marking the fourth time this year the president has been indicted, an unprecedented event in American history.
Accompanying his mugshot on the post were the words “ELECTION INTERFERENCE” and “NEVER SURRENDER!” in capital letters, followed by his website, “DONALDJTRUMP.COM”
Trump was banned from Twitter on January 8, 2021, two days after the massive protest and subsequent riot at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. His last tweet was an announcement to “those who have asked” that he would “not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”
Shortly after Elon Musk purchased Twitter, which he has since rebranded as X, he restored the former president’s account on November 20, 2022. Trump had already promised previously that he would never return to Twitter after being kicked off, and started his own social media platform called Truth Social where he posted exclusively for a while until recently returning to Instagram and Facebook for his campaign.
Now that Trump is back, many are wondering how this will influence his 2024 campaign. Many political analysts agree that how Trump used Twitter back in 2016, as well as Facebook ads, allowed him to directly connect with his voters in a way never seen before historically and a major factor in his victory at the time.
Trump was indicted on August 15 in Georgia over charges of racketeering and attempting to interfere with election results in Fulton County, along with 18 other co-defendants, including former Mayor of New York City, Rudy Guliani, who was also once Trump’s lawyer.
