Deranged Harvard Law professor Laurence Tribe was outraged on Wednesday because…well, let’s face it, he’s always outraged these days. But he was especially incensed this week because President Trump threatened to undo birthright citizenship in an effort to prevent illegal immigrants from using the “anchor baby” loophole to get past U.S. immigration laws.

“This fuxxxng racist wants to reverse the outcome of the Civil War,” Tribe bleated on Twitter. “Over half a million lives were lost in that sacred cause. If you agree we can’t let this lunatic get away with that, SAY SO!!! If you’re silent, you’re complicit.”

…crickets…

The insanity found in this single post will be studied by psychological historians for years, we’re sure, because it is a new frontier in mental illness. As far as we know, there was not a single solider on the battlefield at Gettysburg, hoping that the North would win so that immigrants from El Salvador could one day jump the Mexican border, pop out a baby, and live the good life in the U.S.A. That’s a wholly modern concept, and it’s one that has taken advantage of one thing, and one thing only: A rather absurd interpretation of the 14th Amendment.

That amendment was written as part of the Reconstruction efforts after the Civil War, and the Southern states were coerced into ratifying it (their re-admission into the Union basically depended on it). But even when you put that bit of controversy aside, there’s no reasonable historian who would imagine that this had anything at all to do with illegal immigrants. This was about making slaves into U.S. citizens and giving them the rights due them after the war. Nothing else. That is has been twisted to such a degree by modern leftists just shows you how desperate these degenerates are to fill this country up with the (sigh) “downtrodden.”

And why are they so desperate to do that? Well, for one thing, it guarantees them voters. For another, the inevitable dependency of these illegals-turned-legals lets them expand the government safety net to an unprecedented degree. For a third: Well, they loathe everything about the founding of this country (just see the New York Times’ 1619 Project for more information on THAT), and this is a fine way to re-found it in the liberal image. Another word for “re-found” might be “destroy.”

“Birthright citizenship, where you have a baby on our land — you walk over the border, have a baby, congratulations, the baby’s now a U.S. citizen. We’re looking at it very, very seriously,” Trump said Wednesday. “It’s, frankly, ridiculous.”

Frankly, yes, yes it is.
