According to the watchdogs at the Center for Public Integrity, America’s journalists have donated nearly $400,000 to Hillary Clinton in this election year as compared to only $14,000 to Donald Trump. That’s a stunning disparity – 27 to 1, to be exact. Put another way, the Center found 430 journalists who donated to Clinton; they only came across a measly 50 who donated to the Trump campaign.

And we’re supposed to believe that these same journalists go out there and call balls and strikes?

New Yorker television critic Emily Nussbaum, a newly minted Pulitzer Prize winner, spent the Republican National Convention pen-pricking presidential nominee Donald Trump as a misogynist shyster running an “ugly and xenophobic campaign.”

What Nussbaum didn’t disclose in her dispatches: she contributed $250 to Democrat Hillary Clinton in April.

Again and again, the Center found the same story. Journalists pretending to give readers their unbiased and objective take on the election while shoving money at HRC as fast as they could get it out of their wallets.

Thankfully, it’s not quite as widespread as you might fear. The Center points out that the majority of news agencies prohibit their reporters and staff from making political donations of any kind. And the majority of reporters are smart enough to keep their biases on the down low. Or, at least, the “down low” by their standards. They’ll go out in front of the camera and shill for the Clintons and the Democrats, but they won’t do it in a “Stronger Together” t-shirt.

The problem, really, with the media isn’t the men and women on the ground, writing the stories, meeting the deadlines, etc. Most of those men and women – while undoubtedly Democrats – want to do right by the First Amendment. They might not see eye to eye with red-state America, but they aren’t deliberately trying to lie to their readers and viewers.

The problem is the culture, and that starts at the top of these corporate behemoths that own the news agencies today. You don’t have to send out strict mandates – NO OBAMA CRITICISM! – to get your point across. Certain stories get killed, certain stories get praised, so on and so on, you get the idea. The sad truth of the matter is that when journalists defend against liberal bias – they ACTUALLY don’t see what we’re talking about. They’re too far inside the bubble. When they look at a Donald Trump supporter, they can’t even fathom what they might be thinking.

When that’s your worldview, it’s going to bleed into your reporting, regardless of how much or how little you donate to Hillary’s campaign.
