On Friday, The New York Times broke the news that there is now a second so-called whistleblower willing to come forward and file a complaint about President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine and his infamous phone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky. While it was later confirmed by the whistleblower’s legal team that he is an intelligence official with first-hand knowledge about the president’s correspondence with Ukraine, it is not yet known what he will say or what kind of knowledge he brings to the table.

“The official has more direct information about the events than the first whistle-blower, whose complaint that Mr. Trump was using his power to get Ukraine to investigate his political rivals touched off an impeachment inquiry,” reported the Times. “The second official is among those interviewed by the intelligence community inspector general to corroborate the allegations of the original whistle-blower, one of the people said.”

In an interview on Fox News Sunday, Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT) questioned what this second whistleblower was worth, however, seeing as how the White House has already released a full transcript of the phone call.

“It does not matter,” Stewart said. “This person is gonna come forward and say, ‘Yep, the president had this phone call and, yep, that’s the transcript.’ Uh, I mean, why should I care at all what his perspective, or his opinion or judgment of this transcript is? You and I can read it.”

Well, exactly. How many intelligence officials do we need to come forward and tell us what we can all read for ourselves? Trump has made no bones about the fact that he asked Zelensky to investigate the origins of the 2016 witch hunt, nor the Bidens and their corrupt dealings inside Ukraine. There’s no point of contention here that we need a whistleblower to clear up. The Democrats are just looking for more people to put on the witness stand so they can make it look to the public like they actually have a case for impeachment. Newsflash: No matter if one or a thousand people say you skipped down the road yesterday, it won’t make skipping a crime.

Stewart said the Democrats were having themselves a blast at the expense of American democracy.

“These guys are giddy over this,” he said. “They’re not in pain over this. And it’s not been the last ten days. It’s been three years. Three years they’ve been trying to impeach this president! Three years they’ve been looking for reasons to remove him from office. They’re not pained by this, they’re excited about this.”

No, but the pain will come. It will come in the form of the 2020 election, when Democrats finally realize they have only succeeded in energizing President Trump’s supporters.
